My Fabulous Fandom Gay Wedding Challenge:

I just had to share my excitement...

Last night in a late Parliament session, the Canadian federal government voted in favour of Bill C-38, the bill allowing gays to marry!!! We're now the 3rd country in the world to make it official! (Well, technically we have to wait for the Senate to pass the bill, but it's pretty much just a formality at this point.) And now we've gone up another few notches on Dubya's hitlist ;P

In honour of this auspicious occasion, I challenge everyone to write a story (any length) featuring a same-sex marriage. Bonus points for having the couple get married somewhere up here in Canada!

Love & hugs, all! -JaimeBlue

Infidelity Challenge:

1. A & B are an established couple

2. A is somehow switched with his/her AU counterpart who is alao partners with B's counterpart. Easiest example: Daniel is involved with Jack; he somehow changes places with Daniel from Earth2 who is involved with that universe's Jack. Follow me?

3. A has an sexual encounter with his counterpart's lover. Mutual or non-con is up to you.

4. After A returns to own universe/timeline, B learns what happened. B considers it infidelity; A agrees? disagrees? Where do they go from there? -cyeager1969

A Little More Hope Challenge:

In honour of the recently deceased Bob Hope, I thought I'd offer the following challenge:

Take either a Bob Hope movie (such as the "Road To..." movies), or his trademark song ("Thanks For The Memory"), and use them to inspire a story. Any fandom, any pairing or genre.

To help, here's two links... IMDB listing for Bob Hope and Thanks For The Memory lyrics.

Now get writing :) -JaimeBlue

My Two Dads Challenge

One of Those Weeks Challenge:

Hello Everyone, Well after having one of "Those Weeks," and knowing that next week is going to get worse I am offering up a story challenge...

Write a story where your character is having "One of Those Weeks" You know the kind where anything and I do mean anything and everything goes wrong, how do they cope with the stress, and most of all what was the silver lining that gave the character some hope that all is not as bad as it seemed. -Lady Q

Simpson's Inspired Challenge:

I'm presently watching the Simpson's episode with the renaissance fair and the story of Lisa's first love, and it inspired the following challenge...

As a child, your main character encounters a fortune teller who tells them the story of their disastrous first love. Many years later, when your character meets their love in person... what happens? Will they run off screaming, afraid of having their heart broken as was foretold? Or will they be determined to do this right this time around? And how will your character react to the story in the first place, especially if it's a same-sex pair and the character's in an environment that's not supportive? -JaimeBlue

Adoption Month Challenge:

November, among its many designations, is Adoption Month... so how about a story dealing with adoption? Whether it's a fic about your favourite character adopting a child (or children) or about your character being adopted (or not being adopted and growing up in foster care)... maybe they're searching for parents/siblings? Or someone else is searching for them? The possibilities are wide open... -Denise

Random Acts of Kindness Week Challenge:

The second week in November is Random Acts of Kindness Week. How about some stories where our characters perpetuate this tradition?

There is an organisation, and a website,Random Acts of Kindness, where you can find ideas and information. -Denise

Hospice Month Challenge:

November is also Hospice Month... so if anyone has any plot bunnies that deal with this subject, now is the perfect time to share them.

Is one of your characters in need of a hospice? One of their family members or friends?

Or maybe they volunteer at a hospice? Provide counselling? Friendship? Entertainment? Or simple human contact for people who really need it? -Denise

Adopt-A-Dog Month Challenge:

"Our perfect companions never have fewer than four feet." - Colette

Among its numerous other designations, October is Adopt-A-Dog Month.

So, let's have some stories where your favourite character(s) suddenly find themselves with a new member in their household. Purebreds, SPCA rescues, abandoned alley mutts... one way or another, they find themselves responsible for a dog.

Are the adjustments to be made more of a trial than a joy? Is it a new world of love and affection? Or more one of allergies and accidents? Or a combination of both? -Denise

Cookie Month Challenge:

October also happens to be Cookie Month. *g*

So, in honour of the occasion here's a quick, but yummy challenge... work your favourite cookie recipe into a fanfic. Bake sales, special occasions, or just baking to relax... your character (or someone they love) has a sudden craving for cookies.

Not too difficult, right? -Denise

Introduce Your Fandom Challenge:

This is a new and ongoing challenge to all the writers on the list to introduce your favourite fandom by way of a PWP (meaning Plot, What Plot?... a short story with little to no plot, primarily involving a sexual scene).

Because this is a multi-fandom list, not all the readers will be familiar with all the fandoms... therefore the challenge is to explain as much about the characters, setting and background of your fandom as you can without leaving (or losing the pace or atmosphere) of the love scene.

Hopefully, writers of the less familiar fandoms can inspire some interest in their fandoms, readers can learn what some of these fandoms are about, and the whole list gets more fic.

Good all around, right? -Denise

Jerry Springer Show Challenge:

Hello everyone,

Here is a Story challenge for everyone here on the list :) Write a story where your favorite characters of any TV, Movie, Book or mini series appear on the Jerry Springer show and Why they are on it. :)

Have fun, -Melody

Matthew Shepard Anniversary Challenge:

This coming October 12 will be the 4 year anniversary since the murder of Matthew Shepherd. For those who don't know, he was a college student who, among other reasons, was killed because he was gay.

My challenge is for you to write a story (it doesn't even have to be slash) where the characters recognize this 'anniversary', whether it be this one (the 4th) or any anniversary of the date, and a remembrance of the significance of that day.

I know I'll be writing something for this one series of mine, and it would be nice to see more. I'll post it here on the 12th. -JaimeBlue

Quote Challenge 1:

Okay. Let's see if somebody can do something with this one:

"Two people in love is beautiful.
But FIVE people in love is FANTASTIC!"
--Scoey Mitchell, from an appearance on "Tattle Tales"

Come on, tell me THAT one doesn't just BEG to be used. :) -Jason

Reincarnation Challenge:

Hey all! Me again.

I just finished watching the one movie that makes me cry more than any other -- "What Dreams May Come" -- and it inspired a challenge in me. I'll probably do a het & slash fic for it, but I'd love for it to get other people's creative juices flowing.

The premise: Your two main characters are soulmates on their 2nd life together. What was their first life like? How did they meet? What obstacles did they overcome? Etc, etc, etc. And most importantly, how does that relate to their present incarnation?

E.G., in their past life, your couple were a man and a woman, deeply in love with one another and had to overcome an obstacle such as race/skin colour to be allowed to love each other. They are reincarnated as two men, believing themselves to be 'straight' as they're expected to be, until they meet each other, their twin soul, and have a whole new obstacle to overcome.

That's it :) Now, get writing -JaimeBlue

That 80's Challenge:

Hello everyone,

Well I am issueing a story challenge to the list. :) while watching "That 80's" Show the other night and surving the bad 80's flash backs I thought I would issue an "That 80's" Story challenge which is to write a story from either your favorite 80's tv show or anything 80's related from story title with an early Mondona song 'Like a Virgin' or to *GASP!!* New Kids on the Block songs. The story can be about the real reason why Smurfs are blue to cheating on the rubic Cube. *not that I did ;) * The story can be about the secret love life of the A-team to the romance of Scarecrow and Mrs King, and Remington Steele *During Murphy or Post Murphy*.

Have fun, :) -Lady Q

Wolf Awareness Week Challenge:

Wolf Awareness Week - the third week of October

Not too surprisingly, I've got a soft spot for this one.

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a fic that features wolves (or a wolf ) in some significant role, an integral part of the action, affecting the outcome of the story. In other words, not just "look at the pretty wolf" and move on.

Fandoms that already have a wolf character, like Diefenbaker in "due South" or Blair's spirit guide in "The Sentinel", are certainly welcome, but not necessary. The wolf does not need to be a canon character.

I'm looking forward to lots of replies to this one. :) -Denise

"Psycho DNA" Challenge:

I'm sorry, I just couldn't think of a better 'title'

Here's the idea. One of your main characters was unkowingly fathered by a serial killer/rapist (something of that sort). Thankfully, whatever gene/etc that caused such a chemical imbalance (or whatever you believe is the source of such psychotic behaviour) is dormant in your character...

...until something happens to activate it, whether it be being struck by lightning, exposure to a strange chemical, etc. How does your character act? How (if) will they be 'cured'? And how will their 'partner' or potential partner help them heal? -JaimeBlue

Revenge Challenge:

I found this website called Revenge Unlimited-

I just realized that site was mostly pay stuff *doh!* Here's a site that's completely free (from what I see so far -- I could be wrong): ThePayback.com.

Basically, find a method of revenge and use it in a story. -JaimeBlue

Aphrodisiacs Challenge

Fandom-Specific Challenges:

Superman, Justice League, or Smallville Challenge:

Write a fic from one or all universes. Clark Kent has at least one brother. And make it interesting, such as, make his bro a twin, gay, or evil whatever. -aoimoku

Magnificent 7 "Ezra Auctioned" Challenge:

Ez goes undercover working for a slavery ring. But his employer auctions him off as well. Now the six desperately have to find him.

Hey I love any pairing with Ez. (If he is found hee hee) -Tracey

Pirates of the Caribbean Challenge:

Okay, finally decided how I wanted to give this challenge (though I still don't like how I'm wording it)! Here's what you'll have to do in a fic:

Condition: Jack and Will have to be together (as in, hanging out together, not necessarily as in being lovers/in a relationship). It at least has to be preslash (this is a slash list, after all). Maybe they get together during the story? Do whatever you want with Elizabeth.

Plot: Jack's past catches up with him, in the form of a man who has tracked him down to give him a letter that's meant for him, sent by a family member. Jack, for whatever reason, returns to where he came from, and Will insists (of course) on going with him (or maybe Jack insists Will does?). Complications arise.

The Letter: It can be something meant to be given after a death, could be very old because they've been searching for Jack for awhile, or could simply be an invitation home or some such thing.

The Family: Can all be dead, can be living. If it's some sort of inheritance thing, you could simply have some cousins who weren't in line for it.

The Complications: Whatever you want, just make them interesting! Is it something supernatural (old house=ghosts, of course ::smile:: ), something natural (if inheritance, maybe someone doesn't want him to get it?), or the complications can simply arise from the Jack/Will relationship.

Um, have fun! (Gee, hope someone actually tries it....) -~Cheshire

'That Summer' Sentinel Challenge:

Okay, so I was listening to a song - this is NOT a song-fic challenge, don't worry. I was listening to 'That Summer' by Garth Brooks - it's about a virgin high school grad guy who works for the summer at a farm owned by a widow, and she becomes his first lover. Now, the way the song described the woman reminded me a lot of Jim - strong, stubborn, lonely and needing someone. And I can see Blair taking a summer job on a farm, far from the city, no one else around - and falling in love with the silent, stoic farmer who needs Blair as much as Blair needs him. -Ami

Firefly Challenge:

Keeping in mind that Simon has referred to Jayne as an ape, the challenge is to write a story that uses the following line of dialog:

"Me, Tarzan. You... Jayne?"

Extra points if you can incorporate a loincloth. :)

Ducking and running before anyone throws things at me, -Juli

Earth: Final Conflict - Firefly Crossover Challenge:

It can be a drama, but I would prefer a humor. Drabbles, scenes, or an entire novel length story. Doesn't matter, I would love to see what you come up with.

Just to get your juices flowing, an interesting corolation between the two is the word Companion:

Companions in E:FC are Taelons, aliens. They are part of a group of energy beings bound by a central mind like the internet, they speak with large words for english is not their native tongue thus use more than basic terms.

In Firefly universe, they are whores, high class call girls and boys. They get to pic and choose their clients, and they take very good care of themselves. A ship can go almost no where with-out one on their roster. -Bobbie Jo

Magnificent 7 - Red Silk Ribbon Challenge:

To meet the challenge your story should include:

* A Magnificent Seven Canon character must be found wearing no clothes, although a bathrobe or a towel will be okay. (This means any recurring character on the show. ANY Character!)

* Muses must use the following items: a silk red ribbon and a blanket.

* Any setting is fine.

* Plot? Whatever floats your boat. Humor, Drama, Smut, any combination there of.

* OW, ATF, or other A/U's are cool. Heck write a scifi story if it pleases you.

* The most important thing to remember is to have the best time with the characters you can have, and have fun with the story!

Highlander - CSI Crossover Challenge:

We were talking about crossovers on the CSI-fic list recently and I proposed a CSI/Highlander story where one of Grissom's people was a Watcher (to keep Immortal's secret) and the Clan Macleod (or some part of it) was visiting Las Vegas.

I'd write it myself, but I'm new to Highlander and nearly all my exposure has been through fanfic.

Is there anybody out there who'd care to take this on? -Loke

Sentinel - Blair's Dad Challenge:

This is a question that always intrigues me and on various TS lists in assorted discussions the question occasionally comes up.

My favourite fic take on it has to be Candy Apple's, with Starsky as Blair's dad... maybe because I had my own plot bunnies in that vein even before I read her wonderful stories.

But aside from her Starsky stories, I've seen suggestions ranging from Al Calavicci (Quantum Leap) to Rupert Giles (B:tVS) to Sydney (The Pretender) and from Rick Simon (Simon& Simon) to Michael Long (Knight Rider) to the truly bizarre... Cousin It (Addams Family). LOL

So... your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a fic that answers the question "Who is Blair's dad?" Long or short, funny or serious. Feel free to use any of the examples or choose your own. Slight fudging of birth dates permitted. ;)

Who will it be? TJ Hooker? Peter Venkman or Igon Spengler? Austin Powers? Sean Connery's character from the movie Medicine Man?

Just who is Blair's dad?

I'm looking forward to some interesting answers. -Denise

Free to a Good Home - Plot Bunnies For Adoption:

Magnificent 7 - In Pursuit of Honor AU Bunny

Sentinel - Undercover Bunny

Xena-seaQuest Crossover Bunny

Firefly AU Bunny:

What if Simon had not chosen to book passage on Serenity, but instead had booked passage on some other ship?

What if this other ship had an Evil Bastard Captain, one who figured out Simon's secret? (Hey, it's an AU. Evil Bastard Captain could even be Jayne.)

What if Evil Bastard Captain either (1) turned River over to the Alliance and turned/sold Simon into slavery (a "pleasure" slave, of course) OR (2) blackmailed Simon into providing certain "favors" in order to keep his secret.

What if Mal were reluctantly doing business with Evil Bastard Captain, saw Simon (perhaps Evil Bastard Captain offered Simon's "services" as part of a deal), and was moved to help him?

Hmmmm? Any takers? Please? -Juli

The Magnificent Fugitive:

Vin (a law enforcement officer, rather than a doctor) is convicted of the murder of his lover Charlotte, and sentenced to death by a Judge named Travis.

The real murderer, a one-armed man named Eli Joe was hired by Charlotte's estranged husband.

Chris, Buck, Nathan and Josiah are the US Marshals sent to track the Fugitive down and return him to prison to be executed.

Ezra and JD are former law enforcement co-workers who believe in Vin's innocence and are trying to help him find the real killer.

I don't have the time to write it myself and I have too many other fics on the go anyway, so if anyone would like to run with this idea, please, go ahead -Denise

Attack of the Rabid Plot Bunnies

More Massive Plot Bunnies

Return of the Monster Plot Bunnies

Final Fantasy 8 Bunny:

courtesy of the canon trivia nuts: There is canonical support for the idea that Rinoa might actually be Laguna's daughter. Julia's last name in the Japanese version is Heartilly - did Rinoa take the last name of a popular entertainer, or just her mother's maiden name? If the latter, there are enough what-if's that Laguna could be her father - what would everybody do if this is really the case, and only Julia knew?

As a note about that bunny, a friend of mine and myself are already working on it, but it'd be nice to see if anybody else is interested, and how they'd handle it. -Jason

Final Fantasy 9 Bunny:

Why is Beatrix - a competent, attractive, intelligent woman - so much in love with Steiner - a barely competent, rather unattractive man who's as dense as the poorly maintained armor he wears everywhere? What's the bond between these two rivals for royal favor that leads them into each other's arms with just a simple misunderstood love note? -Jason

Star Wars Bunny:

What if, rather than being knighted after defeating Darth Maul, Obi-Wan was actually sent back for further retraining? After all - after seeing Qui-Gon killed, he responds with easily as much anger (among other Dark Side motives) as Luke was being influenced by in Return of the Jedi - why would Luke be so desperately at risk of falling to the Dark Side at that point, while Obi Wan is knighted for a variety of reasons, largely built around having taken down a Sith Warrior alone? -Jason

A Sentinel Bunny:

Free to a Good Home because I don't have the time to take care of it. It is a Sentinel Plot Bunny and I have written the opening for you.

7777777

Insided the darken hut stood the young Sentinel as he watched over the older Sentinel and his dying guide.

The Sentinel and the guide had protected the village for as long as he could remember and now the time had come for the guide to pass on into the golden light.

The young Sentinel knew that once the Guide was gone the Older Sentinel would fallow.

He turned and listend to the slowing of the older Guides heart as it started to beat slower and slower till it was gone.

Young James looked out across the jungle floor as he watched the spirit of the Guide take form and waite for his Sentinel.

The older Sentinel screamed his grife and morned the loss of his Guide. He took one last look at the Young Sentinel and began to speak. "My time has come Young Sentinel. I know that you fear that you are unable to protect the tribe because your Guide has not showen." He turned and brushed his hand over his Guide's now cool face. "The Tribe has lost it's Shamone and their Protectors in one night. His last act as a Shamone was to find your Guide." He looked back up at the young Sentinel. "Do not fear, Young Enquire. Your Guide will come and He will help you to protect the tribe and bring it into the changing future."

Young James stood back and watched as the Sentinel brushed his hand over his Guide's dead body one more time as he bent and placed his head on the still chest. "Your Guide will come, Cub. Have faith in that during the dark times." He said as he held the still body of his lover close to him and willed himself to fallow his love into the golden light.

James watched over the dying Sentinel till he saw the spirit of panther take form as it ran into the darking night to meet up with his guide. The Guide looked down into the ghostly eyes of his love and took form of a skylark as they fallowed the golden trail that lead up to the sky and to the golden doors beyond till he could see them no more.

A tear slowly fallen down his face as he stood by and faced a changing world waiting for his Guide to come.
