Sesshōmaru
Sesshōmaru (殺”丸 Sesshōmaru?) is a powerful dog demon and feared throughout the feudal world as the ruler of the western lands, having inherited dominion from the Dog General. While appearing human, Sesshōmaru can assume the form of a giant white dog and produces an acidic poison that is mainly released from his claws in the Dokkasō (’華爪?) attack. While Inuyasha's older brother, Sesshōmaru displayed an animosity towards his brother for being named by their father to have ownership of Tetsusaiga. Instead, Sesshōmaru inherited Tensaiga (天”牙?), a sword that can not harm the living yet can bring back someone from the dead only once. Because it was a weapon that could not harm, Sesshōmaru keeps the weapon as a decorative piece on his person for occasional use. Sesshōmaru is accompanied by his retainer Jaken and his two-headed longma steed A-Un.

At the start of the series, believing the sword is his by birthright, Sesshōmaru attempts to steal Tetsusaiga from their father's resting place and lost his left arm during the battle. Regardless, Sesshōmaru continued attacking Inuyasha. By chance, Sesshōmaru encounters Rin and saves her from death while ending up becoming her guardian while gradually becoming more sympathetic and caring. This also leads to Sesshōmaru to have a shaky truce with Inuyasha as they both have a mutual enemy in Naraku, who tempts Sesshōmaru by using Rin as a hostage. Eventually, Sesshōmaru encounters the severed head of Goshinki and bring it to Tōtōsai's expelled apprentice Kaijinbo so the fangs can create the cursed blade Tōkijin (—鬼神?), which Sesshōmaru used his main weapon until it is later damaged beyond repair by Moryomaru.
