Jonathan Archer
... captain of Earth's first Warp 5 starship, Enterprise. His father designed its engine, giving Archer a personal connection to his ship. Archer feels an immense amount of pressure concerning his mission, especially when hunting the Xindi to save Earth from destruction. Subsequently he is assigned Earth-local or diplomatic missions, and is later instrumental in founding the United Federation of Planets in 2161. After retiring as an Admiral with Starfleet, Archer serves as Ambassador to Andoria from 2169-2175, a Federation Councilman from 2175-2183, and then as the President of the United Federation of Planets from 2184-2192. In the future historians would regard him as "the greatest explorer of the 22nd century."
