General George Hammond
General George Hammond took over command of Stargate Command and all SG units from General West. A hardened military leader and a wise man willing to do whatever is necessary to defend the interests of his country, his world, and all of humanity, he was promoted to a Pentagon position as chief of defense for Earth, a post referred to colloquially as "Head of Homeworld Security." Hammond died of a heart attack and a Daedalus-class ship was named in his honor.
