THE LETTER
BY:  Nita Riddle

I lied.

I'm not sick, I'm dying.

I'm still mute but I know how to write and felt I should leave you a
letter.

I am a member of the Royal House in England, youngest son of a
cousin to the King.  Im 9th in line to the the throne, or rather was
before I ran away.

I think England presumes me dead.

I am an educated man who spent his life the only way he could be
happy, through piracy.

I think I'm going to die soon, I thoguht I should write this out.

I have seen Captains come and go but none like this one.

Jack Sparrow is an amazing man.  He was an amazing fighter when he
was a scrap of a boy and has grown to be one of the most legendary
pirates known to man.  The only explination for this he offers is
that he's Captain Jack Sparrow.

I  don't get to say anything, my parrot does.  I named him Killer.
Feel free to laugh, I haven't gotten to tell any one that his name
was Killer so I've never been ridiculed for it, savvy?

Now, I wish to clafiry things about Captain Jacks death.

Oh don't give me that look, I'm at least three times your age and
still sane.  The fact that I ONLY had my tougue cut out can  tell
you how tough I am.

Captain Jack Sparrow was once in love.  Not just with any one, with
the one person he couldn't have.

Careful mate, you don't want to die laughing.  It's a lovely way to
go but rather uncomfterable.

See, I saw it because I can see a lot of things.  I see things
people over look and no one saw the dead look in Jacks eyes for a
moment when he heard of the marriage between William and Elizabeth
Turner.

I until that moment, I didn't notice the things but I can see them
now.  I can see how Jack looked out for Will when he was a part of
our crew for a short term even though Jack was a man who looked out
for no one but himself.

I saw the way Jack would let his eyes sneak over to Will every one
in a while.

I saw when Jack jumped over to the other ship to find Will and keep
him safe from the mutinous Barbosa

I saw how Jack would make little excuses to check up on Will the
short time he was on our ship.

I even saw Jack look back when we sailed away from Port Royal when
he has never looked back on anything before.

I have seen love even if I haven't experienced it and I saw a piece
of Jack die when he heard the news.

Jack drunk more after we heard, he got in more bar fights, and he
got sloppy but more importantly, when you looked in his eyes, you
saw he was dead.

He a piece of him died when we left Port Royal, his soul died when
he saw the wedding announcement on the merchant ship we raided, and
his body joined him two weeks ago when he shot himself in the head
during the last raid.

That's right, it wasn't the ships Captain like we believed, it was
Jack himself who did the honors.

No one would ever have the still to kill him, Jck realized, so Jack
put himself out of his misery.

I would have told you sooner but Barbosa cut out my tougue fourty
years ago.

Now, I felt you would want to know this most 'cause Jack left
everything to you in his will as you'll find out when we reach
Tortuga and so did I.

Anamaria, take good care of the Pearl when I'm gone, will you?  Send
word to the Turnrs about what happened but don't tell young Will the
real reason Jack's dead.  Make it seem like Jack died in a good
honorable battle.

Love,
Cotton
