Some think he's Fox Mulder's real father -- Mulder suspects as much. He says he's Samantha's father ... but is he?
Whatever he is, the Cigarette Smoking Man believes that he is acting in the greater interests ... of what? Humankind? The Government? The Consortium? Some other shadow agency?
Any way you look at him, CSM is a driving force of The X-Files, and one of the reasons I stay interested in the show. He is played by William B. Davis, a native Canadian and water skiing champion, who teaches acting at his own studio in Vancouver, B.C.
