I have a problem with your references to the Inuit and other Native tribes as being the ones who were opposed to homosexuality and same sex marriage. Homophobia didn't hit most indigenous cultures until colonialism began, and even now homophobia is not something that sticks out in my mind as being a large problem within these cultures. Before colonialism homosexuals and transgender folks actually had positions of great respect in many tribes. Secondly, it was the conservative christians that opposed same sex marriage in Canada, not the Inuit.
