Gosh, this is beautiful. So full of emotion. I like it that the injury thing is unsure (or probabaly permanent indeed). There are a few lines in the middle of the story that don't seem right to me (it's a Fraser POV but I can hear Ray talking). It's a nit pick of course, but you write so well, I thought I'd point it out to you anyway. Maybe you'd want to reconsider the lines. The remainder of the story (so almost the entire thing) I find wonderful.
