His Favorite Mortal

by Steelknight

The God of War looked down at the still form. He was
experiencing something almost unknown, something alien
to him. Sorrow, at the passing of his mortal twin.
Over the years he had watched and had been amused by
the antics of this mortal. Most wouldn’t dare to
portray... The God of War. Yet he not only dared, he
did it in a comic light.

This mortal was many things, to many people. He was a
husband, a father, a friend. He was a talented star
rising, soaring upward. He was a figure of admiration
to many, he was to some literally, a god. Someone they
worshiped in story and poem.

Ares bent down and gathered the spiritual remains of
this special mortal. No one from Olympus would ever
know, no one from Olympus would ever see the tears,
the tears that The God of War shed for one of his
favorite mortals.

Later after the tears were gone, there was a new soul
in the Elysium fields. A soul who would forever be
young, and a soul forever watched by and protected by
The God of War.
