Fallen Angels
Chapter Forty-eight - Turbulent Emotions
*****
"A few hours ago. A number of surprises were waiting for me here. Seems if I go away for three months you all decide to become even more odd than when I first met you." Aya pulled up a chair and plopped a plate of food down in front of the injured man. "So what's your story? Omi's dating Nagi and Yohji is with some feathered birdman. Yours should be good to hear."
Ken eyed the food, poking at it with a spoon. Since he only saw Aya at the stove, he was assuming that the red head had cooked, which translated into a one way trip to the hospital a couple of times. Well, it didn't smell burnt and it sure didn't look burnt. At Aya's annoyed look, he finally eat. 'Kami.' he thought to himself. 'Omi must have cooked because Aya couldn't have improve that much in three months.' He turned when Aya began to speak.
"So what's your story? Omi's dating Nagi and Yohji is with some feathered birdman. Yours should be good to hear."
Well, he did know about Omi and Nagi dating. It was really their own business. But if Nagi ever hurt Omi... and left the threat unfinished in his mind, mostly because Aya had said that Yohji was seeing a 'feathered birdman?'. "Um, when did this thing with a birdman happen?" he asked. He definitely had to pay more attention to what was going on in the shop.
"As for me...it the same." Ken said. Well, it was the truth. He was either at the shop, coaching his soccer team, or riding his bike on his days off. To say that Ken was in a slight rut was an understatement.
"At least there's something I can count on as being the same then." Aya muttered to himself and relaxed in the chair. However, Ken seemed to have some sort of loneliness in his eyes. Maybe the man needed to get away like he had to Ireland. "Seems Yohji found a fallen bird and brought it home. He fed it so now it'll never leave." Seeing Ken's confused look, he had to let it fall to silence for a few moments for his own amusement. "I don't know the full story but Yohji declared himself single on me and took a lover who happens to have wings."
It still didn't quite make sense. "A lover with wings? As in an angel type being with wings?" At the slight nod, Ken did the most logical thing, he fell to the floor in shock. Grimacing as he got back on the chair, he looked Aya straight in the eyes. "Aya, I don't blame Yohji." At the icy glare, he held up his hands. "You disappeared for three months. None of us knew if you were alive or dead."
He poked at the food on his plate. "You weren't here to see the pain that Yohji was in after you left." Ken said. "It was like something died...again in Yohji." He looked pointedly at Aya. "I'm sure that wasn't what you wanted to hear but it's the truth."

Omi swallowed as he stepped into his apartment again from the outside walkway followed by Nagi. He didn't like the looks that Nagi was throwing his way at all and it made him just a bit nervous. He didn't think the other boy would hurt him. But he didn't want to hurt Nagi either. Especially now with everything the other boy had been through for their relationship. But also in the last sixteen hours he had realized just how much he loved the younger boy and wanted to be with him. He still loved Yohji just as much as he always had. But it was Nagi that he'd been terrified of losing the night before and Nagi he wanted to hold and protect.
The door closed behind him and he turned to look at the other boy. "Give me five minutes to take my shower and we'll talk?" he asked quietly.
Nagi nodded and walked over to sit on the couch, his knees pulled up protectively and his eyes downcast as if already expecting the worst. Omi rushed into the bathroom needing the time to think. Just over five minutes later he stepped out and looked around finally spotting Nagi curled up on the bed. He slipped on clean underwear and shorts and crawled onto the bed with his boyfriend pressing his chest up against the smaller boy's back.
"Itoshii...."
"Is he your lover too?" the telekinetic asked in a hushed whisper.
Omi tightened his arms around the other boy's waist. "We've only known each other since yesterday. But yes we made love. Not all the way, but...."
"Do you want me to leave?" Nagi murmured his voice catching. "I know we're not really...."
"No!" the blonde cried pulling the other boy around to face him. "I'm not saying it was a mistake. I liked being with Enzeru and Yohji, but I love you. I realized how much last night when I thought you were in danger and even more when I realized you were hurt."
"Really?" the small brunette's voice was hopeful. His eyes searching Omi's face.
"Really," Omi told him brushing his lips over Nagi's. "I love Yohji, you've always known that. But it's you that I want to be with the most, I realized it last night. Even with them last night I couldn't stop thinking about you."
"I thought maybe I'd been gone so long that you had changed your mind. Three weeks can seem like a long time sometimes," the younger boy murmured.
"I was lonely, I missed you," the archer answered. "But that wasn't why I was with them. I won't lie. I wanted to be with them. Enzu's kisses..." he trailed off as the dazed look filled his eyes for a moment.
"If you want to be with them again, I... I won't stop you. I know I'm not very good, there are so many things I won't do," Nagi stated, but his eyes were turned away. But it didn't hide the tears like diamonds that stood in the corners of his eyes.
"No, if I join them again it will be with you too. Enzeru likes you, he thinks your beautiful," Omi replied. "But until you are ready it will just be you and me." Then he grinned slightly. "I have to admit I learned some things from them last night though."
"The things you used in our dream?" Nagi asked a small smile curving his lips.
Omi waggled his eyebrows. "Liked that did you?"
"Yeah," the smaller boy laughed softly. "Maybe I'll make you join them so you can learn more to teach me."
"No, not until you're ready to learn with me." Omi rolled on his back and pulled Nagi to lay on top of him. "Are you ready for dinner? Are you up to meeting Aya?"
The younger boy sighed and nodded his head where it laid on his boyfriend's chest. "I guess so. At least I can defend myself against him."
The blonde nodded understanding his lover was thinking about how vulnerable he'd been with his own team. "Okay, let's go before it's all burned," he laughed. He hugged the smaller boy one more time kissing him. "Thank you for being understanding and not bouncing me off the walls," he said softly as he scooted off the bed still holding the brunette.
Nagi smiled and shrugged. "I knew something was up last night and then when we made love in the dream I knew I was right. You did things we've never done before. You had to learn them somewhere. And you aren't the only one that likes Enzu's kisses." The smaller boy pulled away and ran laughing to the door as Omi's eyes widened and his mouth made a big O.
It took a minute but the blonde recovered and his mouth closed to form a grin. He pulled a T-shirt from a drawer and dragged it over his head, then walked over to wrap his arm around his boyfriend's waist and led him to the kitchen where they could hear voices.
"So did you leave us any stew or did you two eat it all?" the archer asked as they walked through the door.
Aya slammed a hand down on the table and pushed himself up out of the chair. "Pity poor Yohji." He said sarcastically, mentally telling Ken that next time he crashes he should make sure his head gets torn off in the process. As if Yohji was the only person in the world who had something bad happen to him. Screw the fact that Aya came home expecting his love to find nothing but rejection. "Enjoy your food." He shoved past Omi and Nagi when they entered the kitchen, not wanting to deal with it. When asked about the stew he shrugged. "Eat your hearts out." Aya went up to his apartment and slammed his door shut.
Omi stared after the redhead as he stomped up the stairs and once he heard the apartment door on the third floor slam he turned to look at Ken. "Uhm, what happened?"
Ken wince at Aya's outburst. Like usually he knew better then to open his mouth. He poked at the food on his plate, not hungry any longer.
"Uhm, what happened?"
Ken lifted his head to look at Omi and Nagi. "Me being typical Kenken." he said, a forced smile on his lips. "I opened my mouth and my foot flew into it."
"Don't feel bad," Omi sighed walking further into the room with his boyfriend.
He stopped beside the ex-J Leaguer and rubbed his shoulders for a minute in companionable comfort as his lover quietly dished them each up some of the stew. "I've been doing that since he came back this afternoon."
He slipped into a chair next to Nagi and smiled at him gratefully as the smaller boy set the dinner in front of him. "We just need to give him some time and finding out that Yohji found someone new.... It wasn't the welcome home he was hoping for."
"Hai, you're right, Omi." Ken said, giving a smile to the two. "Now." he said, pointing the end of his spoon at them. "You got some questions to answer to me." He eyed Nagi over. "No offense, Nagi but what brought you to our little shop. Well, beside the fact you wanted time in with Omi." He gave a soft laugh as the two blushed. "Seriously, did something happen, Nagi." He blinked, "Oh, what's this about Yohji having an angel."
Omi laughed for a moment and then sobered. He picked up his lover's hand holding it gently. "Nagi's going to be living with us from now on, Ken. Crawford found out about us with one of his visions. He tried to kill Nagi last night. Yohji's boyfriend, Enzeru, saved his life. And yes, he is an angel, wings and all. They met two nights ago. I don't know how serious they are, but Yohji really likes him and he's asked him to stay. The most important thing to me is that Yohji seems happy again."
"I'm glad that this Enzeru helped you, Nagi." Ken said, ruffling the teen's hair. "Maybe I'll be lucky enough to meet the one that could get Yohji to smile again." He stretched his arms above his head, leaning back in the chair. Ken's eyes fell on the clock, startled at how late it was. So startled in fact that he lost his balance with the chair and he found himself looking up at the ceiling of the kitchen.
Ken pulled himself up to his knees, giving a half-hearted glare at the two teens, who were both failing at not laughing at him. "Very funny." He stood up with a grimace. "I better get some sleep. I do have to open in the morning." He moved to the stairs then turn back. "See you both in the morning and try to keep the noise down." He gave them a wink and headed up the stairs to his room.
"Night... Ken," Omi choked out before he totally lost the battle and burst out laughing.
Nagi couldn't help snickering a little about how surprised the other boy's face had been when the chair tipped over. It had happened so fast that the telekinetic hadn't been able to stop it. All he could do was cushion the landing at the final second under the older teen's head. In a way he was glad it had happened because it had lightened the somber mood in the kitchen quite a bit.
The two boys finished eating and put the leftovers into two containers. One for Aya should he be hungry later and one for Yohji when Enzeru finally brought him home. They both tried to steer clear of what if thoughts. The two notes had said the blonde would be back, he just hadn't known when, but that it wouldn't be more than a few days. They both simply hoped that the dark winged angel would find him and somehow convince him to come back tonight.
At last Omi looked around and nodded at the clean kitchen. "Ken's right, itoshii. It is late. We should go to bed. We both have classes in the morning. They do know you're back right?" He slipped his arm around his lover as they walked out of the kitchen towards his apartment.
Nagi shook his head. "We only got back yesterday afternoon. I think Crawford saw that I was going to come see you as soon as it got dark. He was waiting for me."
"I'm sorry Nagi, that I wasn't here for you," the blonde murmured.
"I hadn't been here long," the smaller boy reassured him. "And there wasn't anything you could have done earlier. Crawford would have just seen it and been ready for you."
Omi nodded in understanding as he slipped his boyfriends clothes off, even as Nagi used his powers to strip Omi and turn down the bed at the same time. He wanted to keep his powers flexible and his control strong because he never knew when he might need it.
"We'll go in early and let them know in the office that you're back. What story did you finally use?" the older boy asked as they crawled under the covers and cuddled together.
"Crawford told them I was going to Switzerland for treatment for my migraines."
"Are you still getting those Nagi-koi," Omi asked worriedly. The older boy had learned quickly after they started having a class together and dating that is lover was frequently absent due to severe migraines. It was caused by over use of his powers and happened whenever he had to go with his teammates on a mission.
"Yes, they did change my prescription while we were on the training retreat so I guess it wasn't a lie," Nagi answered.
"Okay. Go to sleep itoshii, I'll talk to Manx tomorrow and see if we can work something out with Kritiker to keep up the medicine for you." Omi held his small lover close already working on the arguments he could use with out promising information or mission help from the younger boy.
After his lover was asleep he thought about the other complication that had sprung up in their life. But then they did say things happened in three's. With Aya back they would have to work out a new schedule not only for the shop, for the kitchen and some of the other chores they shared as well. But until Aya and Yohji talked, and came to some kind of truce it would be better to keep them separated.
As for missions - Omi didn't even want to contemplate going on a mission with the team as badly fractured as it was. He would have to tell Manx to take them off the active list until the problems were worked out. He was strategist for the group and it was his responsibility to let Kritiker know if the team couldn't function. Right now he doubted that they could function without someone getting hurt.
