Disclaimers: I do not own the characters. I also do not guarantee the accuracy of this mission. Because of the secrecy of the Tic Toc project, some details would obviously be missing.

Description: Ann and Ray deal with problems caused by a solar storm while Tony and Doug try to prevent an alien from destroying the Statue Of Liberty in 1985.

Note: This is how I would have continue the last Time Tunnel episode "Town of Terror." This story, like the show, takes place in the 1960's.

Tunnel To Liberty
By David Lee Rickman II

"Two American scientists are lost in the swirling maze of past and future ages during the first experiments in America's greatest and most secret project: The Time Tunnel. Now as Doug Phillips and Tony Newman tumble helplessly toward a new fantastic adventure somewhere along the infinite corridors of time..."

Doug Phillips and Tony Newman could fell the free fall of the time tunnel as they made their transition between time. Crystals flickered and danced as they started to come to the end of the tunnel.

As they hit the concrete pavement, they could tell they were somewhere near an ocean. The breeze was cold and moist with the morning sun.

"Hey Doug, this is incredible.," Tony said as he pointed upward. "It looks like they've begun construction of the Statue Of Liberty. That would put us somewhere in 1886."

Tony pointed to the sky behind them. "Then what's a helicopter doing up there then?"

"Hey you!" A voice echoed about 100 yards away. They turned to see a very tough security guard coming straight at them.

"Run! Run!," They shouted at each other in unison. A few seconds later, the guard grabbed Doug and forced him to the ground. Tony looked back, but kept running.

***********

Ann MacGegor began to become more annoyed with the controls of her console. "Ray, are you getting the same interference that I am?"

"It's that darn solar storm Ann. It's also having an effect on the radiation bath of the tunnel."

"How does this effect our ability to retrieve Doug and Tony?," General Haywood Kirk asked.

Ray looked straight into General Kirk's eyes. "Sir, we can get remote imaging and maybe voice communication. I am afraid an attempt to retrieve them will take a few hours."

"Then give me an image."

Ray turned a dial on his console, and the electrodes on the edge of the tunnel came together. An image of the head of the Statue of Liberty appeared.

"It looks like the Statue of Liberty being built,." Ray hypothesized.

Ann shook her head. "Sir, the time probe indicates they went forward to the year 1985."

**************

The image on the tunnel switched to a construction worker putting a clock on one of the metal support rods. As he turned away from the clock, his body began to morph. His head became bigger and bumpy, and his skin became orange.

***************

A police officer paced back and forth calmly smoking as Doug sat in the interrogation chair. He put his face in close proximity to Doug's face, and blew cigarette smoke in his face.

*****************

"Since the tourist boat is closed during the statue's restoration, I guess you and your friend just popped out of nowhere, right?"

"You'd be surprised."

The police officer blew more smoke in his face. "Not a smart answer. Especially for a guy with no I.D. Now where's your friend and why were you tresspassing?"

"It was an accident. We lost our way."

"Sure, people take the wrong turn and end up on Ellis Island every day. Maybe we should make larger highway billboards."

*************

Tony coughed up sea water as he came out of the harbor. Doug was caught and they probably had an all points bulletin out on him also. He needed to get a message to the complex, so they can move them somewhere else.

***************

Tony walked toward a newspaper dispenser. The date of the USA TODAY was July 2, 1985. Tony had to change into dry clothes. Then he had to find a way to get back to Doug.
