A Deathless Love

By Omega

I know you're one of the stars in the sky,
an immortal beacon shining down on me.
Yet I can't help but wonder why you had to die,
why your life ended so suddenly.

You gave up your life so we would live,
but death is preferable to being so alone.
The love you gave me was more than I could give,
I hate myself for not letting you know.

Why didn't I tell you the joy I felt
whenever you stood at my side?
A kinder hand could not have been dealt,
with you I had nothing to hide.

But the years of rejection, heartbreak, and loss
refused to let me out of its web.
Even to the end you let me be the boss,
consequently, the truth was never said.

I love you, my friend, more than life or the stars,
I'm so sorry that you never knew
How the love you gave me brought me so far,
I know of no other who could be so true.
