Untitled Sentinel Drabble

Concerned, Blair wandered over to his friend. "Henri, my man, what's wrong with Rafe? He looks ... upset."

Henri turned, "He's not really upset, Blair, mostly disappointed. He red-winged last night."

Comprehension dawned. "Ah, so that's it. Well, Rafe's still very young, it's not like there isn't a lot of time," Blair offered.

"True, true. He wanted to meet the tribe with a little more than himself in the offing, though." Henri suddenly grinned, "What'd Jim say his first time?"

"His first time **what**?" Henri's fast change of topic confused Blair.

"Red-winging, you idiot! He's OutClan, barely knows what a Sentinel **is**, and you've been bonded nearly two months!" Henri's exasperated outburst drew a lot of attention, especially from said flustered Sentinel. "Well?!? I'm waiting."

"Not very patiently, either. I'm thinking." Blair's face suddenly glowed, "He hasn't!"

Blair left Henri and bounced over to his Sentinel. "Jim, you're pregnant."

"WHAT?!?"

Notes:

1) all Sentinels are born hermaphrodites and have cycles like human women;

2) Sentinels (rather rare) and Guides (uncommon) bond at a gathering of the Clans called SenMoot, which happens every 5 years, the bond is (of course) not only mental but also sexual in nature and tends to happen (for Sentinels) around 18-20, after bonding, the Sentinel joins the Guide's tribe;

3) Blair is the son of a Clan shaman and a bubbleheaded wanderer (Naomi), said bubblehead was persuaded to leave her son with the Clans, Blair's 19;

4) Jim is the son of an OutClan Riverlord who went bride-raiding among the Clans in his youth, his Sentinel abilities have gone unnoticed and awoke when leading a trading caravan to SenMoot, Jim's 29;

5) Henri (22) and Rafe (18) are another newly-bonded Pair.
