*Blair, I thank whatever is controlling our fate that I found you. You. You are my heart, my soul, my compassion, my joy. Every morning I wake up to find you here next to me and I remember the times you died. When Alex pushed you in the fountain, when you were pursuing MacGunnis. I can't forget when he turned and shot you. I remember the bullet speeding towards you. Damn him and damn the man who sold him those 'copkillers'. I didn't tell you, but I hunted him down, he won't sell another bullet, ever. I could hear it ripping through the vest, tearing and destroying everything in its path. Oh beloved, I never should have asked you to be a cop.

After that you amazed me yet again. You wouldn't give up being a cop. You are a good cop, but I'm scared. So scared. Every morning I wake up and remember this, I also remember to tell you something.*

"Umm, Jim, you up?"

*I can't help it, watching you bounce... wheel... around the loft like the energizer bunny. You just keep going and going and going. Even you will have to eventually slow down and stop. Here, you need breakfast. Just watching you sitting there and eating, when I know how so easily you could have 'not' been here at all is wonderful. I love you.*

I realize I could never be happy in heaven without you there. I'd be the one waiting right there, stubborn and waiting. I can't think of what life would be like without you. And now as we get ready for bed and I wrap myself about you I realize how much you mean to me.*

*Every time I wake in the night, I listen to your breathing, I run my hands through your hair, I breathe your scent deeply, I gently touch my tongue to a lock of your hair, I watch your eyes move as you dream. A line from an old song filters through my sleepy head. "And I could not ask for more." I couldn't Blair. I know I haven't said it enough these past eleven years but, I could not and would not ask for more.*
