Hope?!

Blair woke up late that night by a strange sound coming from upstairs - Jim's bedroom. Puzzled and worried he climbed out of his bed, wrapping the blanket around his freezing body before he
stepped out of his room.

Crossing the moonlight bathed livingroom he carefully climbed up the stairs to Jim's now quiet bedroom, where the sounds had stopped. Soft snoring, and a strange but familiar smell greeted
him instead as he reached the top.

Stepping closer to the bed, to get a better look at the sleeping man, and to figure out what had caused the disturbing sounds, Blair stumbled over something. Unable to catch himself, wrapped up in the blanket, he gave a startled yelp before he lost his balance and barely managed to land on
Jim's bed instead of the hard floor. Strong arms caught him, keeping him from sliding off the edge of the bed. He gasped as he could easily smell the alcohol on Jim's breath

"Jim?" Blair whispered, worried.

Jim stared at Blair, knowing that the other man couldn't see him that clearly in the darkness. He
looked so beautiful, so lovable. With a sigh he cut off that thought, too tired to deal with his feelings of disappointment now, too drunk to think clearly anyway.

"What's up Chief?" Jim asked. Defeated. Still holding onto the warm body in his arms.

Fingers touched his face, caressing his skin, brushing unknowing over the now dry trails of his tears. Like a cat he leaned into the touch all but rubbing his cheek against the warm palm.

"What's wrong?" Blair broke the silence between them, barely resisting the temptation to stroke
Jim's neck. He felt Jim nod and swallow, unable to speak for a moment.

"I heard. " he swallowed again, "I saw you and. and. "he just couldn't say the name," saw the way he. he. kissed you." he stammered and Blair silently swore, hearing the pain and fear in the
few words. He leaned closer until their foreheads touched.

"I'm not leaving you, Jim. I'm never going to leave you, I promise!" Blair whispered, his warm
breath brushing against Jim's hot skin. "I like Rafe, I might even love him, but I'm never, *never* going to leave you. You are my friend, my partner, my sentinel, my life!"

Suddenly Blair was the one holding, offering safety and security to his friend, who slowly cried himself to sleep.
