The Sheriff of Nottingham
By Alwyn
The sheriff of Nottingham was an evil man, who answered to the king,
He often blamed poor Gisburne for every little thing.
He would drink all day and drink all night as he staggered on his feet;
He was always planning further tax collections to make the treasury complete.
Robyn Hood was his arch-enemy, he swore he would meet his doom,
Gisburne took the brunt of it as he cursed around the room.
His foul temper got the better of him as he threatened Gisburne with his sword;
He had anger and delusion as he thought about the king's reward.
He taxed the people of Sherwood with brutality and fear;
His job never went unhindered, as Robyn Hood was always near.
He lived in Nottingham Castle a place noted for its lords,
That's where the sheriff of Nottingham was known to keep his greedy hoards.
