The Depth of Sherwood
By Rebecca Lee
It had been a long week, but Robin's surprise for Marion was ready and he could hardly wait to see the expression on her face, when she saw his gifts to her as he carefully went back to their camp.
"Tuck, where's Robin?" Will asked as he, Nasir, Little John and Much walked into the camp to see Tuck and Marion sitting together and whispering.
"He's gone again and this time he'd better not come back, if he knows what good for him." Marion exclaimed as tears fell down her cheeks.
"Marion, I'm sure Robin has a good reason"
"A good reason! What a good reason to leave at sun up and not come back until sun down every night for the past week, John? . . . Will? . . . Nasir"
Suddenly Marion froze as Robin walked into the camp as if everything was just fine.
"Ah, my beautiful wife." Robin said as he walked over and passionately kissed her.
Marion instantly shoved him away and slapped his face.
"What was that for?" Robin asked as he rubbed his jaw.
"For disappearing without a word at sun up and not coming back until sun down, every day for the past week." Marion exclaimed, angrily. "Where were you, Robin?"
"I've been helping, Edward"
"Don't lie to me again . . . I'm sick of the damn lies." Marion interrupted him.
"Marion, I"
"The truth, Robin."
"All right, the truth is I can't tell you." Robin said, simply as he shrugged his shoulders.
"She's your wife for god's sake." Will exclaimed.
"Will, they're some things that a man can't tell his wife?"
"It's another woman, isn't it?" Marion interrupted him.
Robin was too shocked to utter a word, he just couldn't believe that Marion actually thought that and although it made him look guilty as sin he turned and disappeared into the depths of Sherwood.
...
An hour later Robin was sitting up in a tree staring at the stars.
*How could I have been so daft as to think that the daughter of a nobleman would ever trust a wolfs-head* Robin thought with a sigh? *A wolfs-head*
...
The next morning Little John, Will, Nasir, Much, Tuck and Marion made their way into Wickham to see Edward.
"Edward, have you seen Robin?" John asked.
"Yeah, and he's pretty upset too." Edward replied as he turned to Marion. "He worked really hard for the past week, just to please you"
"What are you talking about?"
"Marion, Robin hasn't been seeing anyone else." Edward's wife Jennifer interrupted her. "He's been working his backside off every day to make you an anniversary gift and then you accuse him of seeing another woman"
"That's ridiculous, what kind of gift takes a week to make." Marion exclaimed as she crossed her arms.
"I have no ideal, but you obviously don't love him anyway"
"How dare you?" Marion shouted, angrily. "I do love Robin, but I'm not stupid enough to believe he's spent a week making an anniversary gifts"
"Really?" Robin's voice asked from behind her.
"Robin, you're all right!" Much exclaimed as he hugged his adopted brother.
"Damn it, Loxsley, you scared us to death." Will shouted.
"Sorry, I had to think about things." Robin replied as he looked at Will. "We have to talk, alone." He added as he turned to Marion.
"What about?" Marion asked.
"Fine then, we'll do it here . . . Marion, you don't trust me anymore and I can't live like that." Robin said with a sigh. "John, Will, Nasir, Much and Tuck will take you anywhere you want to go."
"Go . . . Robin, what are you saying?" Marion asked in utter shock.
"It's over, Marion . . . You're the daughter of a nobleman, so you can tell them, anything that you want and get an annulment from the church, just say I forced you to marry me." Robin replied, solemnly and started to leave.
"That's what you want"
"It's what has to be." He interrupted her.
"I'll go back to my father's house"
"Wherever . . . You'll find me at the falls, after you see Marion to Leaford." Robin said and vanished into the trees.
...
Robin slowly walked through the forest, he was sad and alone as he sat beside the river and cast a pebble into the water.
"There's never been another and there never will be." Robin sighed.
"Robin Hood?" a feminine voice came from behind him.
Robin immediately jumped to his feet and swirled about to face the speaker, but some kind of dust was blown into his face and everything started to spin as he became so weak that he couldn't stand or even keep his eyes opened as he collapsed.
"Sleep now, tonight you're going to be a very bad and busy man." An exotic, beauty whispered as she leaned down and gently kissed his lips.
"Marion, I love you." Robin sighed.
"No, Marion is no more . . . I am Isis DeBelim, you love me and only me now and forever." The woman ordered with an evil grin as ripped off his tunic, she pulled a flagon of blood from her cloak, saturated it with the blood and threw it into the river to float into Wickham.
...
Hours later Robin's torn, bloody tunic washed up on the bank at Wickham. Where a little girl found it and went running to Edward.
"Uncle, Uncle?" she cried as ran up to him and handed it to him. "Its Robin's, I helped Mommy make it."
Edward couldn't speak as a lump formed in his throat and he fell to his knees as tears welled up in his eyes. *Dead, he's dead . . . Oh, Robin, what's happened*
. . .
"No, it's not possible-- I won't believe it-- Robin can't be dead, he just can't be." Marion cried after Edward had caught up with them on their way to Leaford Grange and sadly gave them Robin's bloodied tunic.
"No body wants to, Little Flower, but its Robin's tunic and there's too much blood for him to be alive." Tuck said, solemnly.
"Robin wouldn't want us grieving for him"
"John's right, we've got to go on somehow." Nasir interrupted John.
...
Meanwhile Robin came to and looking about he found himself, bound to a large bed, spread-eagle and stark naked.
"Ah, you have awakened." Isis said as she walked over, she crawled in the bed beside him and slowly ran her hand down his stomach to his massive, rigid member. "Nice, very nice . . . Tell me, Robin, do you want me or your Marion?"
"You, my love, I want only you." Robin replied as he reveled in feeling of her soft hand as it massaged his yearning member.
Isis smiled as she bent down and licked the tip of his growing manhood, causing Robin to thrust it toward her.
"Oh, so you like that do you?" She asked with a hearty laugh.
"Yes . . . Oh, yes." He moaned as she continued to pleasure him, until they were both sated.
...
That night Marion cried herself into a restless sleep on the green carpeting of Sherwood.
"Marion, Marion, I need you." She heard Robin's voice calling.
"Robin?" She asked as she sat up and saw him step from the forest into the bright moonlight. "Oh, Robin, you're alive!" she shouted with glee as she ran to him, but suddenly there were bars between them and the shadowy figure of a woman began making love to Robin as he tried furiously to fight her off.
"Marion, I love you and only you . . . Forever, Marion, forever." Robin yelled to her. "Save me, Marion, save us." He called as they vanished.
"Robin!" Marion screamed as she awoke and bolted upright.
"It's all right, Little Flower, it was just a dream." Tuck said as he walked over and knelt down beside her.
"No, Robin's alive," she replied, solemnly. "Tuck, wake the others, we have to rescue him."
Tuck immediately woke them and they took Marion to see Herne.
***
"Marion, I've been expecting you"
"You know?" Marion interrupted Herne.
"Robin has become nothing more then a love slave to Isis DeBelim." Herne replied as he stared into his camp fire.
"Well, don't just sit there . . . We have to help him"
"Not this time, only true love can save him now . . . Do you love him, Marion"
"Of course, I do. He's my husband!" Marion shouted, angrily.
"Then there is only one way to truly break the spell, the spell can only be broken by only his first love . . . You must find her and then the two of you must force Robin to drink it." Herne explained. "You will find Robin at Castle DeBelim, but I don't know of the girl."
"I know who she is and where she is, but that will do us a lot of good." Marion replied and left with the small oil skin of precious liquid.
***
Once back with John, Will, Nasir, Tuck and Much, she informed them on what Herne had said.
"Robin's first love . . . Is he crazy, how are we supposed to know"
"Her name's Railee of Nottingham, she's a servant in the castle now." Marion interrupted Will.
"She's a witch." Much said.
"Great, what is she doing in Nottingham Castle?" Tuck asked.
"Years ago, she worked in the kitchen"
"I still do." A strong, feminine voice interrupted Marion. "I'm Railee of Nottingham and like you, I'm hiding. . . Only I must hide from Church and King." she introduced herself as they all turned to face a beautiful, blond wrapped in a white hooded cloak.
"Did Herne send you?" Much asked with his usual child-like smile.
"In a roundabout way." Railee replied with a soft smile. "I believe in one God."
"You're a Christian?" Marion asked in shock.
"Yes, didn't Robin tell you?" Railee asked as she looked toward the falling sun. "We must go now, we should reach the castle by sunset"
"Maybe, if we could fly." Will snapped at her.
"Let's get this straight, the Lady Marion and I'll go a lone. . . The rest of you will follow, but only to wait in the edge of Sherwood, until Robin and Marion join you." Railee spoke, sternly.
"What about you. . . I suppose, you'll fly back to Nottingham?" Will asked with a snicker over her childishness. "You actually think that we're going to stand here and watch you just pick up Marion as fly away like a sweet little blue-jay." He continued, causing an uproar of laughter from the other men as Marion turned red with anger; But as she turned to apologize to Railee for her friends, she saw that Railee was cooler and calmer then any one of Robin's men would've been in the same situation and the laughter quickly died.
"You're so right, this will be much better." Railee said as she quickly took hold of Marion's arm and they both vanished.
"Damn it, Scarlette, now we have no ideal where they're going"
"John, right, she could've took Marion anywhere." Much cried. "Now, I have no family. . . No nothing, nothing, everyone gone."
"Robin and Marion will meet us in Sherwood, near castle DeBelim." Tuck reassured him.
. . .
Meanwhile Railee's power transported them from the center of Sherwood to a empty, dust ridden bed chamber in castle DeBelim.
"How did you do that?" Marion gasped as she caught her breath.
"I'm sorry, I forgot some people don't care for the passage through the land of magic. . . I guess, it is best forgotten along with the great one's in the sands time." Railee replied, sadly.
Suddenly they heard two women screaming with the pleasure that only lovers give.
"Say you love me and only me." Marion and Railee heard a feminine voice order as they approached the Great Hall.
"I love you, and only you." Robin groaned as Marion and Railee peered about the corner to see him roll onto his bare back on the bare floor.
Marion almost gasped as she saw the sweat on Robin's chest, but Railee grabbed Marion's mouth.
"Shh, he doesn't know who, or what he's really been doing. . . To him it's nothing more then a dream." Railee whispered in Marion's ear. "He's probably dreaming she's you"
"Or you!" she interrupted her with a spicy whisper.
"Not me. . . Robin was more like a big brother"
"Hearn said that you were his first love"
"And he was mine, but we weren't lovers. . . We were more like an friendly brother and sister." Railee explained as they watched the Lady DeBelim leave Robin alone in the Great Hall. "Come on, we must move and move fast." she ordered as she ran to Robin's side with Marion directly behind her.
Marion instantly pull the oil skin from her shoulders and opening it, she offer it to Railee.
"Hearn said we must both make him drink"
"I know." Railee interrupted her as she grasped the bottom of the small oil skin.
"Robin, drink." Marion said as she tried to forget his bareness and the way he was grabbing at Railee, then only at herself when Railee would push his hands away. "Robin, drink it!" she ordered as if an angry mother, speaking to a spoiled child as she suddenly noticed that Railee loosened her hooded cloak to reveal a long white dress and a man's black breeches and had quickly removed the breeches and dressed Robin in them.
"Robin, drink it and all will be right. . . Robin, you'll like what it does, I promise. . . Good, that's right drink it all." Railee enticed him into drinking it all. "Marion, we must get him out of here, now and my magic isn't strong enough for three"
"I'll stay, I know my way out"
"No, it's written I must face my sister in the depths of her black powers. . . I'll send you and Robin to the edge of Wickham that way you'll be able to stop the others"
"Railee, we can't just leave"
"You have no choice and don't come back for me." Railee interrupted Marion and with a power filled snap of her fingers, she sent Robin and Marion to their destiny and she headed to her own.
