Notes: Weeeelllll, the need to post this was actually triggered by a rather heated discussion on story warnings on another list. Because of my own personal history, I like warnings, but accept that many do not and live life accordingly.

One of the off the wall comments in the anti-warning camp brought back some rather painful memories and this was the result.

Children of the Night
by Cheyenne Dancer

We
Are the walking
Wounded
The Children whose lives you
Touched
Dirty Thoughts, Casual Pleasures
A Moment
In your world
A lifetime
of Dark walking
Catacombs
of numbness
joining
the hollow men
Eternal
trek to the Shadowed Land.

We
Are the Vampires
Of the New Age
Abandoned by the Dreams
Of Our Fathers
Left in ignorance
No Mother's Love
Touches in the Dark
Cold Comfort
from frozen lips
Did
your God see
you
make the Children Cry?

We
Are the Children
Of the Night
Abandoned Voices Raised
In Angry Howls
To Deaf Masses
Pain of Shadowed Love
we were
Touched
And so Touched our Lives.

We
Look and Know
Nothing
Is Real
Safety Illusion
A Lie soft on your lips
Love a tattered shawl
Worn without Warmth
Our Lives
Forever a Darkened Hell
by
Your Touch.

Who I am, what I am is shaped by my thoughts, not their hate.
