Upset Stomach
by Python
Lennie sat in bed reading and absently rubbing his upset stomach. He'd taken some Pepto Bismal and was waiting for it to take affect. He knew he wouldn't be able to sleep if his stomach didn't calm down.
Jack opened the bathroom door, flipped off the light, padded over to the bed, and crawled onto it. "What are you reading?" he asked, settling next to Lennie.
"Dreamcatcher by Stephen King."
"Any good?"
Lennie shrugged. "It's ok. Ed recommended it."
Jack noticed his lover rubbing his stomach. "Is your stomach still upset?"
"Yeah."
"I've never seen you so squeamish before," Jack said good naturedly.
"After seeing that kid's pictures of the meat packing plant, even I thought about eating tofu."
Jack chuckled. "I was wondering why you made spaghetti tonight until you told me about your day trying to track down Hatcher's killer in the meat packing district."
"I knew I wouldn't be able to stomach anything with meat in it tonight."
Jack looked at his lover sympathetically and covered Lennie's hand with his own.
Lennie sighed and gave a small smile. They lay in silence until he said lightly, "I don't think my aversion to meat will last that long. I like my cheeseburgers too much."
Jack grinned. "You'd better be back to normal by tomorrow night."
"Why?"
"We're going out to celebrate Nora's birthday remember? She wants to go to a steak house."
"She does?" Lennie asked. He found that a little hard to believe and had trouble picturing Nora Lewin in a steakhouse.
Jack nodded and explained, "She loves blooming onions."
"Really."
"Yeah, one year one of her friends even gave her an onion maker for Christmas," Jack said and added, "She just doesn't have the patience to try and make one."
Lennie laughed and put his hands up. "Ok, whatever she wants."
"So, you'll be fine tomorrow?"
"Yes."
"Good," Jack stated, took Lennie's book, and put it on the nightstand.
"Now that that's settled...."
Lennie looked at Jack's inviting grin. "I thought you have an early morning meeting."
Jack didn't respond with words, but pushed his lover's t-shirt up so he could get at the detective's bare stomach. Then he leaned down and tenderly kissed the area, letting his tongue play along his lover's skin.
Lennie ran a hand through Jack's hair and then the other man stopped and looked at him expectantly. He lightly grasped Jack's chin and brought the lawyer's lips to his. The kiss started soft and slow, with Jack letting Lennie's tongue sensually explore his mouth.
Jack pulled away to lay on his back and wrapped his arms around Lennie's neck. The detective's face stopped an inch from his and the other man's blue eyes glinted at him. "What?"
"You're beautiful Jack," Lennie answered, not quite sure what made him voice that thought at that particular time. This wasn't the first time he thought Jack was beautiful and it wouldn't be the last.
Jack smiled warmly. "So are you," he whispered and ran his tongue along his bottom lip. "Now, can we get on with this? I have to get up early."
Lennie didn't need any more encouragement and kissed him again, both forgetting about everything except each other and what it felt like to be together.
