Killing the Mood
by Python
Jack glanced at his watch. He was expecting Lennie any minute. He was waiting for Lennie to come so they could have lunch together. They normally didn't have time for that because both of their schedules were so hectic during the day.
Jack opened his office door to see Lennie standing in the hall talking with Serena. He shook his head in exasperated amusement. He knew what she was telling Lennie. How could she resist?
Jack walked up to them, nodded to Serena, and grabbed Lennie by the arm.
"I'm sorry to break this up, but I'm taking him now," he said and pulled Lennie towards the office.
Serena laughed and Lennie waved to her. "Talk to ya later, Serena."
"Bye, Lennie."
Lennie let Jack drag him to the office. When they were inside, Jack let go and he shut the door. He noticed Jack closing the blinds. "What is this all about?"
Jack crossed his arms over his chest. "She told you didn't she."
"About what?" Lennie asked, trying to look innocent but failing miserably.
"About Tina Montoya trying to twist me around her finger."
Lennie laughed. "Oh, that. Serena may have mentioned it. She said I should watch out for some competition."
Jack snorted. "As if I'd be interested."
"Montoya tried the same thing on Ed. It took the wind out of her sails when Ed said that he was trying to figure out a way to throw her pretty little ass in jail."
"Serena would like nothing better than to throw Ms. Montoya in jail, too."
Lennie shrugged. "We'll see what happens. If she was involved in the murder, she belongs there."
"I've got no argument with that. I know that she manipulates men, but I'm not sure if she'd kill."
"We'll just have to find out," Lennie said. He walked up to Jack. "Why were you so concerned about what Serena told me?"
Jack's cheeks flushed. "I don't like her giving the impression that I might fall for something like that."
Lennie grinned but said seriously, "You wouldn't. Everyone knows that."
Jack grinned back and cocked his head to the side. "But I admit that I was tempted, just a moment."
Lennie took a step back and teased. "I'm willing to step aside..."
Jack cut Lennie off by kissing him. When they broke for air, he rested his forehead against Lennie's. "No, you wouldn't."
"Probably not," Lennie admitted. He shut his eyes when Jack began kissing along his jaw. "Jack, we can't."
"Why not? We've got an hour for lunch," Jack whispered against Lennie's skin.
"Your office is not soundproofed and you are a screamer."
Jack stared at Lennie for a long moment. "You sure know how to kill the mood."
Lennie sighed. "I'm afraid I had to. No matter how much I want to, I can't spend my lunch hour giving you the thorough fucking you deserve and letting everyone on this floor hear a free show."
Lennie's voice was completely serious and Jack had to laugh. "I suppose you're right."
Lennie grabbed Jack's hand. "Come on. Let's go so you can buy me lunch."
"Who said I'm paying?"
"Take pity on the man who has to work the double shift tonight. While you and Serena are sitting in a nice restaurant, I'll be sitting in the car, eating pizza with Ed, and waiting for a suspect that probably won't show."
Jack chuckled. "Look at the bright side. You love pizza."
"True. Can we go now?"
Jack nodded. "Yeah."
Lennie opened the door and headed out to the hall. "And you're still paying."
Jack knew he was going to lose this argument, but he didn't really mind. "Okay, I'm still paying."
