A Very Short Scene

Bobby paced across the room for something like the hundreth time since they had found him. Claire had done all she could to patch him, up and he was going to be fine. But he was still out and until he woke up

Bobby just wasn't going to be able to sit still.

He knew he was over protective of is partner. He never could seperate his feelings and his job. But he'd done his best to keep the obsessive behavior down. He only checked on Darien once a night, at least only once that Darien knew about. He often had to stop outside the apartment to assure himself his friend was safe. It was almost as bad with Darien as it had once been with Viv.

If Bobby was truthful about it, it was really worse. It was just that he spent so much time nearly joined at the hip with Darien that it was hard to tell when it was official business protecting, and when it was obsession.

Bobby stopped and looked down at Darien laying peacefully in a hospital bed they had moved into the lab for him. He did look like he was resting. The bruise on his temple wasn't serious. Claire said he was just exhausted. Darien had spoken to him for a second when they had pulled him out of the rubble of that building. Bobby had been supporting his head, while the firemen cleared the rubble from around him.

"Hang in there Partner."

"I will, if you'll be here when I wake up." Darien had said then passed out.

"I'll always be here for you Dare." Bobby had answered.

He'd puzzled over Darien's request ever since. Why would he ask for Bobby to be there when he woke up. Where else would he be? Did Darien know something he didn't, were the paper pushers going to send him packing, believing that Fawkes could take care of him self now?

Bobby was puzzled, worried and scared.

He looked at Darien, the sheet pulled up around his chest, his skin was a little pale, not that he was ever very tan. What ever his ancestory was besides French, he didn't take to the sun well. But he was still a magnificent sight. Bobby hated to admit it, but he loved seeing his lanky, sexy as hell Partner first thing every morning. It was one of the reasons he still picked him up on the drive to work. He just loved that first sight of him waltzing towards the van.

Darien was graceful, casually graceful if there was such a term. He worked so hard on his hair style every morning, Bobby liked it best a little shorter, he'd even liked it when Kevin had been wearing it more normal while he was 'visiting' it made Darien look younger some how.

Bobby had fought his attraction for Darien at first, he never wanted to be hurt like he had been when Viv had left him. He tired to keep all of his liaisons, short, as impersonal as he could. He knew from the start that he could fall hard for his thief of a partner. Those dark eyes made his knees week some days. There was so much emotion in them, so much pain, so much everything. Darine didn't hide his feelings well. He tried to cover it with jokes, and biting humor.

Bobby sighed, and paced back across the room. He didn't want Claire to catch him mooning over his friend. Friend, that didn't really cover the way Bobby felt about Darien. There were way to many levels of feeling involved. Not the least of which being when Darien had risked his life for Bobby.

Bobby knew it was part of his job, it was a given. But he'd never expected it from Fawkes. Especially not so soon in their partnership.

He stopped beside the bed again, Darien has moved. "Hey buddy you feeling any better?"

Darien's eyes blinked open, "Hey you are here." Darien smiled.

"Where else would I be?"

"I don't know we kind of told each other off the other day. I was scared you ment it." Darien reached his hand towards Bobby.

Bobby took it. " I was just angry, you know me I let my mouth get ahead of me sometimes. I didn't mean anything by that."

"Good I'm glad." Darien smiled and squeezed Bobby's hand.
