Summary: A prophecy made before Harry was born has a strange effect on Remus Lupin..

Author's note: This fic was based on a dream I had last night.



The Prophecy

Prologue
Feb 18th 1979

Remus Lupin entered the kitchen of his house and sat down heavily. His new wife, Shakira, looked up at him and said, with a smile on her face,"What's wrong, Remus? Bad day at work?"

"You have no idea,"Remus replied with a tired smile, "I had no idea muggle children could be so.... rowdy." His job, as a bus driver was interesting as, being a werewolf couldn't get a job in the wizarding world. His wife was a chef in a glitzy hotel in London but she knew about his condition and loved him regardless. The first time he'd transformed in front of her, she didn't run away and he didn't attack her, in fact she had kept him in his human mind. Afterwards she had said to him that it must've been true love that had kept him sane.They married soon after that.

Shakira smiled, "You get used to it after a while...What's worse is when the kids are so rowdy that they are running around the Resturant and nearly causing accidents."

"I suppose." Remus replied, nuzzling her neck.

"Remus, I have something to tell you..I went to the doctors and he told me that we're going to have a baby. In fact he told me I was 8 months gone." (A/N: This actually happened to me, I didn't have any symptoms or anything. I actually fainted when I was told the news.)

Remus's jaw dropped open. "8 months? but then we only have a month to prepare." He smiled at his wife.

Shakira suddenly went into a series of fits Remus, trying to make sure she didn't hurt herself, reached for the telephone and was about to ring for an ambulance stopped when Shakira had settled down.Her eyes flicked open and she said,in a voice unlike her own, "The child born of the wolf will help the one who will defeat the dark lord, stop the darkness within. They will be bonded for life and nothing will stand in their way..."Her eyes closed again and then opened.

Remus then procceded in telling her what she had said and she had laughed it off, saying that she was a seer and she was used to it.

Four months later, after Shakira had had her baby, Remus by her side, Remus came home to find the place in ruins and her body lying on the stairs, the dark mark hovering above the h. Remus ran to her side and, hugging her body to him started to cry. He remembered the baby and rushed up to the nursery but then remembered that she was at a friend of hers..He sighed in relief because at least one of his family was safe. He, then faced the task of going around to her friends and telling them the bad news, when he told them, he had broken down and told them everything, including him being a wizard.They looked at him and suprised him by saying they already knew. He realised that he couldn't keep her so her offered his daughter up to them, which they accepted gratefully, having no children of their own. They promised to always love her and take good care of her. Remus left his daughter with them and left, going home with a heavy heart. This time when he transformed he was even worse than he had been, even before Shakira's attentions. His wolf form howled and scratched at the door crying out for his lost mate..

(A/N: Wow.. Intense or what? As I said before, I dreamt this, maybe I'd read this in a fic and I'd forgotten, I don't know but I know that if I don't write it down it will come back to bite me in the arse. I deliberatly left out the details of Shakira's looks because that will be coming in a later chapter.)Read and review
