The Moment That Changed Everything

-Prologue-

Harry, Draco and Fang came to an abrupt halt. In the clearing ahead, a large shadowy something feasted on the blood of a slain unicorn.

The thing looked up and hissed at them.

Terrified, Draco and Fang took off running. As they raced to find Hagrid, taking the lantern with them, Draco's foot caught on a rock and he fell.

Fang kept running and by the time Draco had got to his feet, the dog was nowhere to be seen.

Trembling, Draco began to panic. He whirled around, trying to find the path back out. But the forest was dark, and he was afraid.

It was on top of him before he knew it was there, teeth sinking deep into his shoulder.

He screamed in terror.

~I'm being eaten alive!~ He thought as the teeth sank deeper.

The beast was suddenly thrown off him, a bolt in its heart.

"Hagrid," Harry asked, "what was that thing. It looked like it was trying to eat him."

"That was a werewolf." Hagrid crouched down and saw the bite wound on Draco's shoulder. "Oh dear."

~Let me bleed to death.~ Draco thought. ~Please?~

Hagrid picked up the inured boy and carried him, sorrowfully, back to the castle.

-Prologue 2-

"That's right!" Snape threw off Harry's cloak. He handed Lupin a goblet. "You always were a pain in the ass."

"Your attitude toward werewolves has certainly changed in recent years." Lupin said, drinking the potion with a look of disgust.

"Indeed." Snape nodded, thinking back to the day when he'd held a sobbing werewolf cub named Draco, angrily watching as a letter from Lucius, requesting that the boy be put down, burned in the fireplace.

Snape had shown Draco the letter, watching as the boy's expression had gone from happiness to utter despair. Then he had burned it and held the child he'd been asked to murder until the small blond werewolf cub was snoring in his arms.

-Prologue 2; Part 2-

"Do you know why I learned to make the Wolfsbane potion so well to begin with?" Snape asked. "It was to help my son, Draco." He turned to Sirius. "I've known you were here from day one. Draco spotted you while he was out playing. He enjoys that part of it and I am confident enough in my work to let him run free."

Sirius smiled, recalling the playful werewolf he met while in animagus form.

"He enjoyed playing with you." Snape told him. "And since I don't want to send my son's two favorite babysitters to Azkaban, I suggest you show some evidence to back up your claim that Peter Pettigrew is still alive."

-Chapter One-

A chorus of "For He's A Jolly Goodfellow (Except When There's A Full Moon And Then He's A Pain In The Ass)" rang through the Great Hall.

Above the staff table there was a banner which read "HAPPY 2ND ANNIVERSARY REMUS & SIRIUS LUPIN". It featured a picture of a werewolf and a beautifully groomed but shaggy black dog playing as if they were puppies.

They had married shortly after they had turned in Pettigrew, Sirius only too happy to lose the name of Black.

"Thank you," Remus laughed. "And thank you, Severus for those charming new lyrics."

Sirius nodded at Snape's hand and Remus raised his eyebrows.

"What's this I see?" Sirius exclaimed, in a jovial voice. "Is that what I think it is? Was thy dark heart brightened by the smile of maiden or youth? Come now, tell us!"

"A maiden." Snape told them.

"Surely this maiden has a name." Remus laughed. "We all know who it is amongst us with the courage to be a werewolf's husband. But what woman here has the courage to be a werewolf's mother when she knows beforehand of the child's dreaded affliction?"

The whispers were picking up now, but they were quickly silenced when Sybil Trelawney, now Sybil Snape, stood up, put her arm around Draco's shoulder, and said "I am."

-Chapter Two-

"Today we shall cover werewolves," Professor Lupin told them. "Now, as I am a werewolf myself as is young Mr. Snape here, I will not be teaching you how to kill werewolves. I wouldn't want you to have that knowledge if I spring a test on you."

Everyone laughed.

"Now, what is the first rule when dealing with a werewolf?"

"Be nice to 'em during... er... that time ot the month?" Neville winced.

"Hey, Neville," Lee called "he said werewolves, not witches!"

"Indeed." Professor Lupin smiled. "But that does bring up an interesting point. The werewolf curse does follow the same pattern as female menstruation. In fact, most female werewolves' periods coincide with their full moon cycle. Now, can anyone tell me what this problem led up to?"

Hermione raised her hand.

"Yes, Miss Granger?"

"Werewolves nearly died out in the eighteenth century. However, an eccentric wizard named Egon McGonagall did not want this to happen. He therefore altered the curse so that a male werewolf could get pregnant at any time of the month."

"A male werewolf?" Ron asked. "Why not a female?"

"Like the book says," Lupin pointed out, "he was eccentric."

Draco's eyes went wide and he raised his hand. "I ... I think I need to go to the hospital wing." He blushed, glancing over at Harry.

*****

Professor McGonagall summoned Harry and Draco to her office after lunchtime.

"Fortunately for the both of you Draco is not pregnant."

Draco breathed a sigh of relief.

"Now I cannot stress how very important this is." McGonagall told them. "But Harry, Draco must never get pregnant. He is very fragile and the stress involved would probably kill him. Now I assume the two of you will continue making love despite my warning. That is why I will be asking Professor Snape to brew a contraceptive potion."

"My dad'll kill me if you ask him to do that." Draco told her.

"And your boyfriend will kill you if you don't." McGonagall replied.

-Chapter Three-

"Professor Lupin tells me you are in need of my skills as a potions master?"

Snape was sitting in a chair at the table. In the short time he'd been married to Sybil, the missus had transformed the living space shared by the Potions Master and his adopted son into something that seemed more like a home to Draco than the Malfoy Manor had ever been.

Harry looked over at Draco.

"Run along now," Snape told Harry' looking very formidable. "I will speak to you in the morning."

Harry pressed his lips to Draco's, then turned and departed.

"Draco, I'm not sure I want you seeing him." Snape told his son. "He's too often in the public eye. And Lucius Malfoy believes you are dead. If you ended up in the papers, Lucius would hunt you down and kill you."

"I know." Draco told him.

"I'm also concerned about his dating habits." Snape added. "Can he be trusted to use protection, now that we know how deadly pregnancy would be to you?"

"Yes." Draco replied.

Snape frowned. "Very well," he sighed. "I will make a contraceptive lubricating potion for you."

"How sweet of you," Lucius Malfoy nodded to the two Death Eaters at his side and pointed to Draco. "Get him pregnant."

Snape blasted the Death Eaters. "Draco. Go to your room and put up the barriers." He knew the order for Draco's rape had been spontaneous and that Lucius was there for him, not Draco. That meant one thing.

They knew he was a spy.

*****

"You're lucky Snape didn't jinx your behogies off when he found out you were shagging his son." Seamus told Harry that night while Harry and Ron played a round of Wizard's chess.

"Are you going to marry him?" Hermione asked. "That would be the right thing to do after all."

Harry did not reply. The truth was he had been thinking about marrying Draco ever since he'd first watched the pale cub frollicking on the grounds. But he hadn't told anyone. The last thing he needed was to be teased about having a werewolf fetish.

-Chapter ThreeB-

Lucius Malfoy and Severus Snape circled. Their eyes which had once met in friendship were now locked in hatred.

The other two Death Eaters were busy trying to get to Draco.

Lucius pinned Snape and pointed at the door. "Finite lncantatem. Alohamora."

The Death Eaters slipped into Draco's room.

"You bastard!" Snape spat as he aimed a punch at Lucius Malfoy's face, forgetting his wand in in his anger.

Lucius staggered back, his left eye gone. He saw it on the tip of Snape's wand. Before he could claim it back, Snape slid it off and let it fall to the floor, crushing it with his foot.

*****

Draco raised his wand then noticed the Death Eaters weren't making any moves toward him.

"Dobby is sorry if he is scaring young master Snape." The voice came from low inside the robe. "But Dobby must keep Harry Potters' love safe."

"What about him?" Draco indicated the other Death Eater.

"Not him, young master, her."

Draco nearly laughed. "Winky?"

"Dobby and Winky can sneak you out." Dobby said. "You put on Dobby's robe and Dobby and Winky will wear Winky's robe together."

*****

Snape watched the two Death Eaters pass. He wanted to kill them for what they had done to his son. But right now he had to deal with Lucius Malfoy.

As they rolled around on the floor, Sybil walked in.

She watched then spoke. "The fates tell me that Lucius Malfoy will win this fight."

Lucius relaxed a bit. His victory was in the bag. He would savor this moment before he killed Snape.

Snape sensed this and knew his moment had come. "There's one thing you should know about my wife's predictions," he told Lucius.

Lucius leaned down, threateningly. "And what is that?"

"They're usually wrong." Snape replied. He meant to break Malfoy's neck, but before he could his instincts kicked in and he transfigured instead.

Into a bunny.

Lucius Malfoy was still in hysterics when he was being led to Azkaban a short time later.

-Chapter Four-

Draco stirred, moaning painfully. "That's the last time we invite the bludger round for tea."

"Sorry, beautiful," Harry kissed the tip of Draco's nose. "Thought you were a Death Eater. Dobby and Winky are still out. Is there any way I can make it up to you?"

"Yeah," Draco said, "you can tell me where my life went. Tell me why I spend each year at Hogwarts loving you a little bit more. Tell me its okay. That you love me, too. Then tell me why a man who once claimed me as a son wants me dead."

"Draco," Harry drew him into his arms, holding him "the bad stuff doesn't matter anymore because I won't let it hurt you any more." He clasped Draco's hand and suddenly he had an answer to Hermione's question. "I want to be at your side from this moment on. To be there when you need me, no matter what. Draco Snape, will you marry me?"

"Yes, Harry Potter," Draco kissed Harry, then pulled away. He took a flask from his pocket, opened it and made a face as he took a long drink. "I love you."

Harry took a beautiful golden collar and placed it around Draco's neck. Then he held him through the change. When the werewolf had fully transformed, he licked Harry's hand.

Harry went out onto the grounds with Draco. "I got you a present." he took a ball from his pocket and tossed it for Draco who fetched it happily until he grew tired of the game.

Then they sat together in the shade of Harry's favorite tree, the pale werewolf resting its head in Harry's lap, Harry stroking Draco until they both dozed off.
