It seemed to be like the perfect thing for you and me
It's so ironic you're what I had pictured you to be
But there are facts in our lives we can never change
Just tell me that you understand and you feel the same
This perfect romance that I've created in my mind
I've lived a thousand lives each one with you right by my side
But yet we find ourselves in a less than perfect circumstance
And so it seems like we'll never have the chance

He tried to sleep, but he couldn't stop thinking of her, or about the discussion he had overheard Sara, Nick, and Warrick having.

*~*~*Earlier that night*~*~*

Nick:"Man could those two be more obvious?"

Sara:"Who?"

Warrick:"What are you talking about?"

Nick:"Oh come on guys.You can't tell me you don't see it!"

Sara and Warrick:"What?!"

Nick:"Grissom and Catherine! They're totally into each other!"

Sara:"Grissom?"

Warrick:"And Catherine?"

Nick:"Yeah."

Sara:"Nick, Grissom has no personal life, okay. He does not get into
relationships.

Warrick:"Yeah, you saw how it went with Terri Miller.

Nick:"I know, but Catherine's different. I mean, have you noticed how he tells her stuff that he would never metion to any of us? And they have dinner together all the time."

Sara:"Well yeah, they're really close friends."

Warrick:"So what?"

Nick:"Look you can think what you want, but I'm tellin you,there's
somthin there.

Ain't it funny how some feelings you just can't deny
And you can't move on even thought you try
Ain't it strange when you're feeling things you shouldn't feel

Ain't it funny how a moment could just change your life
And you don't want face what's wrong or right
Ain't it strange how fate can play a part in the story of your heart

Sara was right. He didn't get into relationships.But Catherine was
different. He found himself opening up to her,just her.He could trust
her,confide in her. True,she was his closest friend,but he didn't
love her like that. Did he? No,he couldn't let anyone get close to him.
Not even the one he cared about the most.

Sometimes I think that a true love could never be
I just believe that somehow it wasn't meant for me
Life can be cruel in a way that I can't explain
And I don't think that I could face it all again
I barely know you but somehow I know what you're about
You've touched my heart
And it altered every plan I made
And now I feel that I don't have to be afraid

Love wasn't Grissom's thing. He wasn't good with women. They were
kinda freaked out by a guy who's bug crazy. But Catherine wasn't. It
was like she understood that it was just part of Grissom. He admired
her ablility to look inside people and appreciate them for who are,
not what they could be. Though he still couldn't see why she married
Eddie.She didn't deserve a creep like him,not after the way Grissom
had seen him treat her. Then he remembered the day Eddie had her
pinned against the wall. It was all he could do to keep from hitting
the guy. Then there was that little comment Eddie made about he and
Cath having a "thing". Catherine didn't really have anybody to take
care of her,so Grissom kind of made it his priority to make sure she
didn't get hurt. Maybe he did love her.

I locked away my heart, but you just set it free
Emotions I felt held me back from what my life should be
I pushed you far away,and yet you stayed with me
I guess this means that you and me were meant to be
