Halloween Night
by Saitaina
Halloween night should be erased from the calendars. Nothing good ever happens on Halloween night. It's the night my parents died you know. The night everything changed. The night the Boy-Who-Lived was born.
It's the night you left me now. The night love died and grief was born.
It was supposed to be a joke. That's what they keep telling me, as if that'll make it all better. Harmless pranks don't' end in funerals though. They don 't end in nights of tears and they don' t end in dead bodies on the floor, blood pooling around as I watch, cold.numb.
They screamed. So loud and long that it was nearly musical to my ears. He even called for you, as if you would save
him. But angels don't fall from heaven and victims don't rescue their murders.
They're talking about setting my execution on Halloween. A fitting end they say. To die the day they did.
On this Samhain night, when the veil between worlds is thin, let those long gone walk again, let the voice long
silenced speak. Hear me now as the past year slowly dies, only to be reborn again. As I will it, so mote it be.
