Charlie was fascinated with bridges. Ever since he was two.
We brought him a working model of a bridge when he was eight. He flipped.
He would beg me to drive him to one every Saturday that I was home. He loved to watch them open and close. We went to a different bridge each time. He wanted to see all of them, Golden Gate, London; you name it he wanted to see it.
He wanted to build bridges when he grew up. Because of me, neither will happen.
Now I'm sitting here, alone, watching this bridge open and close.
