Moving Day

Summary:

Nick reflects on leaving his old place.....

Work Text:

Nick walked through his old condo one more time just because. There were no more boxes, no more suitcases, nothing at all. The movers had already come and gone, and Nick had packed his truck one last time with the things he wanted to move himself. These were items he didn't trust anyone to move but him.

When Gil had first approached him about buying a house together, the idea made Nick nervous. He wanted to be with Gil more than anything, and knew that he'd passed Gil's final test. The knowledge that Gil wanted them to live together permanently made Nick happier than he had ever been.

Nick couldn't help but remember some of the more memorable moments that had taken place in these very rooms. There had been lots of goods times, and a few bad ones as well. Nick remembered the night he had confessed his feelings for Gil as they sat across from each other at Nick's kitchen table.

As he made his way down the hall, he thought of their first argument as a couple and how he had sat in that very spot right by the guest bath door and cried his eyes out because he just knew he'd lost Gil forever. Nick made his way toward the master bedroom and stopped just inside the bedroom door.

As Nick stood gazing at the spot where his bed used to be, he grinned from ear to ear. There had been a lot of love made in that bed, and Nick laughed out loud when he remembered his and Gil's first time. Lots of fumbling and a couple of false starts, but a good time had eventually been had by all!

Nick made his way back to the living room and reached into his pocket for his keys. It was sad to Nick in a way because this place held a lot of memories. Looking at the bright side, Nick realized that he had a chance to make new, better, and forever memories now that he had Gil, and they had a home of their own.

As Nick locked the door of 205 West Oak for the last time, he couldn't help but shed a tear or two. He hoped that the people who bought the place would be happy there. He walked to his truck, and as he backed down the drive, he couldn't wait to get to the new place and start making some of those “forever memories” with Gil.....

The End
