Deleted Scene: A Matter of Royal Larceny

Summary:

small scene takes place after the ep "A Matter of Royal Larceny"

Work Text:

Noah took Al out to his favorite steak house for dinner. It was a converted church with all of the frescoes and stained glass windows intact. The restaurant used only the best materials, fresh food and expensive china and linens. The tables and chairs were made of dark wood. The tables were decorated with candles and covered with tablecloths down to the floor.

They sat at a table against the far wall. Noah watched Al point out to the waiter which bottle of wine he wanted. “You did a good job, Al.”

Al sat forward. “Good job? Is that all you have to say?”

Noah leaned back in his seat. “What else do you want me to say?” he asked blandly.

Al’s eyes got wide. “Not only did I get the royal orb back in its place,” he whispered urgently.

“That’s what you were supposed to do,” Noah interrupted.

“I uncovered a plot to kill the Crown Prince and I saved his life.”

Noah kept his expression neutral. “Well done.”

Al rolled his eyes in frustration. “Well done? Any of your agents would’ve just put the orb back and left it at that.”

Noah shrugged. “I don’t know about that, Al.”

The waiter returned with a bottle of wine and filled both glasses. He glanced from Al to Noah and then back again. He inclined his head and backed off.

Al moodily threw his arm over the back of his chair and looked anywhere except at Noah. “I go the extra mile and you don’t care.”

Noah’s mouth barely twitched. “I care. Thank you.”

“That’s all I get? A fancy meal and a thank you.” Al glared at Noah for a long moment. His brow furrowed. “I can order anything I want?”

Noah got the distinct impression that he’d been caught. “Yeah.”

Al continued to stare at Noah. He set his jaw but there was a glint in his eyes. “Including dessert?”

Noah almost jumped when Al’s foot ran along his leg. He arched an eyebrow. However, his voice didn’t crack. “Sure.”

Al smirked. “Great.”
