"HARK, THE HUNGRY REAVERS SING"
A "Firefly" Christmas Filk
Written by Alison M. DOBELL

"Hark, the hungry Reavers sing
Gnawing bones and sewing skin
Rape to death their chosen prey
Once were men or so they say.
Alliance tell they don't exist
Fairytales to frighten kids
In the Black they have become
Worse than monsters every one
Hark, the hungry Reavers sing
Gory death is all they bring!
When we found that driftin' ship
I knew then what had done this
Thinkin' quick to save my crew
Couldn't tell them what I knew.
When you live life in the Black
You must take what e'er you lack
So a scavengin' we went
Survivin' our whole intent
Hark, the hungry Reavers sing
Gory death is all they bring!
Alliance came an' caught my crew
Handcuffed me an' in a few
Lost the prisoner we found
Pleaded he had gone to ground.
Took him back aboard my boat
Tams were hidden not below
He jumped out an' Harkan cried
In that moment almost died
Hark, the hungry Reavers sing
Gory death is all they bring!
Wasn't mercy that he lived
Broke his neck an' that was it
Saved the purplebelly's life
Freedom was the only prize
Took my cargo left my crew
Watched the wreck as it blew
Couldn't let us profit none
Without a word of thanks was gone
Hark, the hungry Reavers sing
Gory death is all they bring!"
