Work Text:
Let the River Meet the Sea
by Omega
The words hung between us.
"I love you."
He told them to me, suddenly,
unexpectedly.
With him, I can only
expect the unexpected.
Like a coward, I ran,
for I was truly afraid.
Afraid of the emotions
coursing through me.
I thought if I denied it
he would move on to
someone else
and our lives would
resume.
I should have known
not to resist what is
true to our hearts.
Oddly, it was the Doctor
who convinced me.
He came to me,
in my quarters,
looking incensed.
Without wasting words
he told me I was a fool.
Without pausing for breath
he then stated something profound.
He told me that no matter what
I tried to do, Jim would still love me.
No matter what I tried to believe
I would still love him.
I believe I shall let
this river meet its sea.
