The Crane, Poole and Schmidt balcony, good cigars, fine scotch.
Alan, quiet, pensive. "I went to see someone today."
"Oh?" Denny puffed smoke. "A hooker?" he asked hopefully.
"A psychic, actually." Alan sipped his scotch. "She told me there are alternative dimensions, different realities."
"And?"
"In one of them, you're a starship captain..."
That got Denny's attention. "A starship captain?" He tried it on his tongue. "Captain Crane..."
"In another, I'm a cultural anthropologist..."
"...Captain Denny Crane..."
"In a number of realities, we're lovers."
"...Captain..." Denny sighed, stuffed the cigar into an ashtray. "Alan, I'm still not sleeping with you."
