Try To Remember
by BuffyAngel68
Elusive lady; Summer.
When we are deep in her embrace,
far from the bitter ides of March,
we like to think that she will remain with us forever.
In this are we comforted, and so sleep in peace.
But it is her will to move, bringing a sort of joy,
then going on to perform her magical illusions elsewhere.
We just begin to rely on her warmth and to feel secure,
and before we can stretch out a hand to grab her coattails,
she is gone, as a secret lover vanishes with the rising sun.
We wake, to find the air a little colder, the world a little darker.
Until our earth mother, being also a woman of power,
restores our hope for the return of our elusive lady,
by brightening the leaves and the world once more,
before allowing land and sky a respite from three seasons labor,
in order to more properly greet the beauteous siren, Summer,
when she returns to the world,
and we to her arms.
