Work Text:

Together
by Pirate Turner

The man in black again lost his family.
A settled man was put back on the run
While another innocent was jailed for obeying Nature's calls.
A preacher's faith was questioned,
And a healer's kindness banned.
A young man's dreams were ripped apart,
And an older man's hopes were completely torn asunder.

Five men rode out of the dusty town
They'd risked life and limb so many times before to protect,
But though they each felt more alone than ever before,
They were all accompanied.

Fate rode with them, twisting all the while,
And the big, black birds of death and forlorn depression
Rode heavily on their muscular shoulders.
The townspeople followed them too,
Watching with haunted, sad eyes
As they watched their saviors be put on the run
By a lowly man with a government tag.

Each man rode alone with fears and loneliness
Weighing heavily for they were not meant
To be alone any longer and cursed fate
For splitting their family.
But fate is a fickle friend,
And She was far from done with these brave gunfighters.

When the wolves came calling, She sent a pawn
Forward to regather them,
And the Magnificent Seven drew together again
With renewed determination, trust, and faith
In each other and the loyal family
And unbeatable team they made together.

They stood together in the face of
Seemingly unbeatable foes and won,
But more and sweeter than the victory
Of battle did they win.
They won the reunion of their family,
Stronger and tighter,
And all members unwilling to part.

Together they stood,
And together they will always stand
Until no longer they can,
But they will ride forever together
Through the skies.

The End
