I see him from the corner of my eye. He's watching me again, as he always does when he thinks I'm occupied. I know that if I look up even slightly he'll pretend to be engrossed with his ever-present PKE meter.
Once, fixing my make-up, I angled my compact so I could watch him. What I saw on his face nearly made me drop it.
I saw wonder, and fascination; awe, some lust.
And a little fear.
Sigh.
That last is why I haven't (so far) approached him in any way other than that of friendship; I know that he'd bolt for the hills, or at least his lab, if I tried. So I settle for what I have now:
Those incredible blue eyes, watching me.
