Drabble #82: Strange world

He put his head under water, and kept his eyes open.
This was how his lover must have felt before his surgery.
Deaf.
Nick looked around. He saw everything but heard nothing. It was strange. Weird. And a little frightning. He came up for air, gazing over the water to the beach where Gil was resting in a hammock, recuperating from said surgery.
Slowly, Nick walked out of the water, shaking his head. Shaking the water out of his ears. Shaking away the deafness. He was glad that the surgery had been a success and his lover could hear again.
