If only for a day

Pain ripping, hearts blood dripping
time is telling me to leave. This place
is no longer my home, it's time
for me to roam. Words yelling
in my head makes me wish I
was dead. No more, no more
I'll go instead. It's better that
they think I'm dead, leaving
gentle memories in their
head of brighter times in
sweet sunshine. Half a man
is what I am, no good to you
or them so off I go were no
one knows of the dirty things
I've done. As I hide from the
sun the pain and tears and
empty fears that drove
me away if only I could
stay just for one more day
instead I pray for the pain
and shame to just fade away
if only for a day.
