Lonely

Summary:

What happens when Slade and Ram break up?

Work Text:

"I'm lonely, with no one to hold, and no one to love." Slade said softly. He looked around his room, and
wondered why bad things always had to happen to him. He was all alone now, but there had been a time,
when he had loved. Slade had loved with a passion. He had loved Ram, and the other man had loved him,
for a while anyway. Things had changed, though. Ram had fallen out of love with him, and it hurt, deeply.
Ram had broken the news to him, as only Ram could. He said that they needed to start seeing other people.

Slade had been livid. His eyes had flashed in dangerous anger, but moments later, they were normal again.
Slade's manner was cold, when he replied to Ram's question of, if they could still remain friends. "No, we
can't be friends anymore. All we ever do is quarrel, and I'm tired of it, Ram. I'm tired of us always arguing,
and never getting anywhere with it." Ram had nodded. He had looked at Slade as if he were going to say
something. Ram had Slade's face cupped in his hands. To anyone else, the scene might've looked romantic.

That someone else would be wrong, completely wrong. There were no romantic feelings between them right
now. There was only sorrow. Ram was leaving him, and there was nothing that he could do to stop it from
happening. Slade was hurt. He felt like just dying. Ram had stared at him a few moments longer. Then he let
go of Slade's face, and his arms dropped to his side. The silence that hung between them was killer. Ram had
found someone else to love, it was Jay, and Slade just couldn't believe it. It was so completely unreal to him.

Jay and Ram hated each other, for as long as he could remember, and now, here they were, a couple. Slade
hated it. His jealously was slowly starting to consume him on the inside. 'Maybe I could break the two of them
up,' He thought, wondering just what it would take, to break the newly formed couple up, and tear them apart.
He quickly grabs some clothes, and went take a shower. When Slade steps out of the shower, an hour later, he
had the perfect plan in mind, to split up Jay and Ram. It was so perfect, it had to work.

Slade quickly dressed, and made sure that he looked as if he were upset, so very upset, that someone would
need to come and talk to him, in private. His plan would work, it just had to. This was the only way to get Ram
back. This was his one and only chance, so it had better work, or Slade was screwed. As he headed out of his
bedroom, down the hall, and into the café, Slade thought about what he was going to do. He was going to ruin
things between Ram and Jay, and he would not feel sorry about it.

Slade shook his head silently, and then rolled his eyes at himself. As he walked inside the café a few minutes later,
he froze. Ram and Jay were sitting in the café talking. They were holding hands, and were smiling at each other, as
if the two of them shared a secret, which they probably did. Slade had watched as Jay whispered something in Ram's
ear, and the other man would just smile, or laugh in response. It pulled hard at Slade's heart. He wanted to be the one
who Ram spent all of his time with.

But now, as he stood there watching Ram and Jay together, he realized, that the two were truly meant to be. They loved
everything about one another, and they accepted each other's flaws, and they loved each other no matter what. The two
men had complete faith in each other, and that was how they got their relationship to be so strong. They trusted the other
man not to lie, and the other one never did lie. As Slade stood there watching Ram and Jay, he realized that he just couldn't
go through with his plan.

He loved the other man so much, that he was willing to sacrifice his own happiness, in order to put Ram first. To
Slade, that was love. He thought about what he was doing, and an old saying came to mind. The saying was, 'If
you love something, let it go. If it comes back, it's yours. If it doesn't, it wasn't meant to be.' As Slade watched
the two of them, a sad smile crossed his face, for the love he and Ram had once had. Their love was over now,
long over, but they would remain friends, and Slade could deal with that.

Several moments later, Slade decided that he had spied on the couple for long enough. He slowly and silently,
slips back into the shadows, and made his way quickly and silently downstairs, and outside the Mall. He steps
out into the fresh night air, and paused as a cool breeze surrounded him. Slade smiled, knowing he had done
the right thing, and that he and Ram would continue to be the best of friends for a very long time. There was
nothing else he could ask for, except maybe a love of his own.

But Slade knew that when he found the man for him, he'd know it. So for now, he'd be lonely, staying by himself
in his room, or avoiding everyone in the Mall, since they were together already. Slade knew things would be hard,
and he'd be jealous of everyone, since everywhere he looked, there was a couple, but was just the price he was
gonna pay, for doing a good thing. He would get over it, and move on with his life, like he had always done. Slade
would keep the memories of his time with Ram, so that he wouldn't be lonely anymore.

The End.
