Beautiful Disaster

Summary:

Danni's sexuality.

Work Text:

I see her standing there. Her long, beautiful, blonde hair just blows in the wind. I ache to
put my arms around her, just this once. She turns in my direction, and smiles. I wanna die.
I dream of the day she will see me as more then just a friend. She will see me as a woman,
a lover, ready to love her, and more than ready to be loved by her. I want her to see me as,
the one. Her woman. She hangs onto him, her grip on his shoulder tightening, when she sees
me watching her.

Pushing away a piece of blonde hair from her face, she turns to away from me. I see her lips
part. She's speaking to him. He nods, while looking at her. Then, he kisses her on the cheek,
and then walks away, going back inside the Mall. For a moment after he leaves, I stay where
I am. Then, after several seconds of silence which seem like years, I get up and walk over to
her. She looked up at me in sad silence, and I wonder what had just happened.

When I reach her, I begin to speak. "Are you okay, Ellie?" I ask softly. She doesn't say
anything, only nods. I try again, trying to make her speak. "What just happened?" I ask
softly, before pulling the other woman in a hug. She begins to cry, and my heart begins
to break as I watch her, unable to share her pain, except for being able to hold her, and
tell her everything would be okay. She looks at me, and asks if it will be this hard everyday.

I pull out the hug, and look her in the eyes. "It'll hurt all the time, yes. However, it'll
hurt less, as time goes on." I say, offering her the only piece of wisdom I know in the
circumstance. She smiles at me through her tears, and thanks me for staying with her.
"I wouldn't want to be anywhere else, but with you," I say, and then blush brightly. Ellie
looks at me, as if she's trying to read my mind.

After a few moments of hesitation, she leans forward, and every so gently, kisses me
on the lips. I feel the tingle I always knew would be there. But for some reason, I can
tell that her heart isn't fully in it. As I pull away, out of the kiss, I tell her so. "If you're
not ready, I understand. I know that you are confused, and probably need some time
to straighten things out in your mind, and I don't mind waiting for you." I run my fingers
through her long blonde hair, loving how soft it is. "I love you Ellie." I say softly to her.

She smiles at me, as if she knows something I don't. A moment later, Jack's voice floats
out to us, from seemingly far away. He's calling for Ellie to come with him. Jack says that
Bray has called a meeting, and he wants everyone in attendance. Ellie looks at me, as if
she is afraid I might think she had something to do with it. I smile, and nudge her to go.
After taking a deep breath to calm myself, I shake my head to clear my thoughts, before
getting up, to go join the others in the café.

When I get there, Jack's trying to persuade Ellie to sit with him. She keeps shaking her
head, and trying to sit down in a chair, but Jack just continues to bug her, saying that if
Ellie doesn't sit on his lap, then he won't leave her alone. I decide to solve the problem
for Ellie, by motioning her to come sit with me, which she willingly does, to my surprise.
I smile, suddenly aware of the fact that everybody else had stopped talking, and was
looking at us. I smile, and shrug, deciding then and there, that it's none of their business.

I listen to the meeting, not really taking a word of what Bray is saying, and I'm so relieved
when it's over, and I get up, and walk quickly over to Ellie, and taking her by the hand, bolt
from the room, not wanting to be around the others for much longer. As we go to my room,
Ellie looks a little unsure of things. "Are you okay?" I ask, as she takes a seat on my bed,
whereas I take a seat on a nearby chair. "What are we?" I ask her. Ellie however, surprises
me again, when she silently slips her hand into mine. I look at Ellie. She and I, together,
untied as one. We are, two women, two souls to know each another. We are, wonders to all
our friends. We are, a beautiful disaster.
