Chapter Text

Title: At the Beginning
Prompt: Beginnings
Word Count: 111

He was scrawny when Megan first introduced him to Horatio. Thin as a rail, big brown eyes, messed up hair, and scruffy looking. He was adorable and Horatio Caine had taken him under his wing. The kid needed to be trained.

They worked well together. He relied on Horatio's training and skills, listened intently and learned. Over time he developed his own way of investigating and became a seasoned CSI.

When Megan left and Horatio took over, things changed with them once again. They were no longer mentor and student, but colleagues. Horatio looked at Speed in a new light; it was the beginning of a new stage in their relationship.

Title: Contentment
Prompt: Middles
Word Count: 120

Horatio smiled at his lover. He was still thin, but not as bad as when they first meet. Alexx had seen to that. His hair still had the 'I just rolled out of bed look, and he was still scruffy.

Their relationship was only a year old. Horatio no longer stayed late at the lab, he had someone to go home to. He enjoyed his days off and everyone commented on how relaxed he looked. When asked who put that smile on his face, he would slip on his glasses, smile and walk away leaving them wondering.

Every morning he woke up to beautiful brown eyes. He would kiss soft lips and whisper 'I love you'. Horatio Caine was content.

Title: The End
Prompt: Ends
Word Count: 120
Warning: Spoilers - Lost Son *hands out tissue*

He stared at the tombstone. He still couldn't believe that he had lost his lover. He would never see those brown eyes again. Never run his fingers through un-kept hair. His hands wouldn't cup scruffy cheeks as he leaned in for a soft kiss.

It had all come to and end on the floor of a jewelry store. He had watched the light leave his eyes, felt the once warm body go cold. Alexx had told him to give Speed to her, but he wasn't hers. Speed belonged to him and now he was gone.

He squatted down in front of the tombstone and touched the name reverently.

"Wait for me; I'll come to you in the end," Horatio whispered.
