Selling my life
I look around at the books on the shelves. There are so many memories
here. I have never told anyone how much they mean to me. For so much
of my life these books were my world. They mean so much to me.
I can't keep them. Even thinking about getting rid of them makes my
chest ache and makes it difficult for me to breathe.
Jim doesn't know what I am planning to do. I can't tell him. It hurts
too much. I called a collector that I know who said that he would come
to look at them tomorrow night when Jim is on stakeout.
I need the money. I won't get any salary till I get a badge. I can't
let Jim pay for everything. I can't ask my Mom for money. I have to
pay my own way. But, Lord, it feels like I am selling my life.
