Sneaking into Reality

My eyes open a moment before his do. I savor the moment, because, in all reality, the minute he wakes up he's going to spring out of bed in a defensive display of his typical heterosexual bluster. That's okay. I'll risk that. I just like being here.
There's always the chance that when he wakes up and finds me in his arms, he'll have a Denny Crane moment and forgets he didn't put me there. And that makes me wonder--if he's more scared of losing his mind than his heterosexuality, will he pretend to remember what I only dreamed?
