THE BARRIER

Yes, it is true.
Things have not always come easy for us.
It seems that there has always been a barrier of some kind.
Something that always seemed to come between us.
First it was our understanding of one another.
Our learning to trust.
Not always easy considering we are two very different people.
Yet we learned...
and grew to trust one another.
Then there was duty.
Always duty.
Yet, even then we found time for one another.
The nightly chess games...
the stolen glances...
the secretive touches.
And ahhhhh, the shore leaves.
Remember them?
Sorry, how could you forget?
Still, despite all the barriers,
despite all the challenges,
love grew.
Remember our first kiss?
I do.
I see it,
feel it,
cherish it nightly
over and over in my dreams.
Oh how I wish you were here to share them with me.
Do you feel regret Spock?
For leaving me as you did.
