Eric looked up from his paperwork. Wes was staring at him.
"What?" he said defensively.
"You know," said Wes quietly, "when I first met Jen, she reminded me of you. Stubborn and loyal and always biting my head off..."
Eric raised his eyebrows.
"She softened once she got to know me. She was a lot more like me than you."
Eric stiffened and said, "So?"
Wes shrugged. "I was thinking about her today."
Eric tried not to say it, but it still came out. "Sorry you settled?"
Wes smiled softly and shook his head. "No," he corrected. "Glad I didn't."
