The Return Of Returns
by Holliday
The Huntress swooped down to the roof of the Clocktower. A small smile perched on her lips. Barbara was cooking dinner tonight and that in it's self was a treat but tonight they where finally going to make love.
Walking through the door she could smell the amazing aromas wafting through the air. Helena watched as Barbara stood over by the stove swaying her hips to some eighties song drowning out of the radio.
Aw maybe the time is right
Maybe tonight I will be with you again.
Helena thought the song fitting walking over to her she wrapped her arms around her. Placing a feather light kiss on her neck. She listened to the soft murmurs of Barbara. Turning around Barbara took the opportunity to kiss Helena.
"Um, Sweety don't take this the wrong way, but you need a shower."
"Why would I take that the wrong way." Helena added mock seriously
"Well let me out it like this. I f you don't take a shower I won't feed you or...: Barbara left the
comment to hang.
"I'm going jeez. You save the world and your scolded." Helena said rather loudly as she walked out of the room.
"I'm not scolding you. For saving the world. Just pointing out I can't thank you properly if your
dirty." Barbara added smiling turning back to her cooking.
Twenty minutes later a very clean Helena entered the kitchen wearing Barbara’s favorite black
silk robe. Well it was both of there favorites at least when the other was wearing it. As Helena wore it now Barbara was thinking of skipping dinner and going straight for Helena.
As the silk rubbed against Helena's naked flesh her nipples became suddenly aware of the of the cool material pressed against her skin. As Barbara noticed Helena was naked as she took a seat on the couch and promptly tried to cross her legs to keep from exposing any of her nakedness.
"So Barbara do you need any help with anything" Helena asked seductively.
"No not really but I was wondering if you wouldn't mind taking the roast out of the oven." Helena saw her chance and pounced. Bending over ever so slowly.
Helena proceeded to remove the roast. Barbara’s breath was caught as Helena's robe suddenly came undone. No longer able to contain the sudden surge of desire that was rushing through her. Helena's heightened senses alerted her of Barbara’s elevated arousal turning around she pulled the redhead into a searing kiss.
Dinner was forgotten for the moment as two very aroused bodies began a long journey that could no longer be contained.
"Water." Barbara was panting.
"Okay don't move. I'll be right back." Helena got up from the bed . Heading into the kitchen she grabbed two glasses and a bottle of water. As Helena headed back into the room she found Barbara dozing.
"Humans"
"I heard that." Rolling over Barbara sat up wrapping the sheet around her." You know now that you brought the water.."
"Let me guess. Now your hungry but not for the young meta-human who would love to pleasure you for hours more."
Barbara sat flabbergasted for a moment. "Well lets eat first and then we can play later."
"I can live with that." Picking her up Helena carried Barbara into the kitchen.
Across Town. Dr. Quinzel's Office
Dr. Harleen Quinzel sat at her desk. The lights low as she sips on a glass of wine. Turning the pages of the file that now sat in front of her. She suddenly became aware of the presence in her office. The cool hands of the Shadow stroked down the expanse of her neck.
"Now, now my shadow shouldn't be playing."
"Playing. No I haven't begun to play." The Shadow slowly crept around the expanse of the room. Harleen looked up trying to locate the shadowy woman.
"Looking for me?" Dr, Megan Ravens had know materialized on Harleen's desk. "So what are you reading?" Harleen swatted her hand away.
"No peeking you do remember Doctor patient confidentiality. Pesky little detail in our department
but one none the less."
"Ah, yes that little detail but if that file has anything to do with one Helena Kyle it would be fair
game."
"Well then here you go." Handing over the file Dr.Quinzel sat back in her chair smiling at the other woman before her.
Clocktower- Day
The morning sun shown through the curtains. Causing Helena to let out a groan. Barbara shifted in the arms of the younger woman cursing the day for making her have to leave such a comfortable position.
"Good-morning." Barbara smiled up at the younger woman.
"That remains to be seen. However that can be remedied with a kiss."
"Well then let's make it a good one then." Rolling over Barbara placed a kiss on Helena's lips. Causing the woman to turn it into a more passionate encounter.
"Okay now I really don't want to get up." Barbara groaned out.
"Well take the day off."
" I can't. I have finals to give and papers to grade."
"Yada, yada. You know you're not the one in school. You can afford to play hooky. You finished school."
"What kind of example is that to give to the young impressionable youth of New Gotham?"
"It's not them I'm interested in." Helena replied smiling. Running a hand up Barbara's torso. Swatting the hand away Barbara rolled out of bed and began to get ready.
Sitting up Helena watched as she walked out of the room.
Grabbing a robe she headed into the kitchen.
"Alfred!"
"Ah good morning Miss. Helena. Breakfast."
Looking up at the butler Helena was once again amazed at how he just seemed to be everywhere. Sitting down Helena indulged herself in the feast that had been laid out before her. A few minutes later Dinah came bustling into the kitchen. Smiling she sat down.
"Hi."
"Morning." Helena went back to her breakfast. It wasn't like she didn't like the kid. She just wasn't a people person. Helena's face lit up as Barbara entered the kitchen. Grabbing a cup of coffee and a croissant. Barbara sat next to Helena. The two kept looking at one another ever so discreetly. Both with knowing smiles plastered on there faces. The small exchange was neither lost on Alfred or Dinah for that matter.
"C'mon Dinah you don't want to be late for school."
"All right." Dinah grabbed her stuff and headed for the door.
"Helena I'll see you after work right."
"No I have therapy today. Which might I add is going rather well if I must say so myself. I haven't killed Dinah"
"Hey." Dinah called out from across the room.
"Yet." Helena added.
"Play nice you two or else." Barbara chided the last part she made sure to be looking in Helena's direction. Helena bowed and headed off to get dressed.
DR. Quinzel's Office Lair.
The room was dark. Not large but enough room to serve for it's purpose. The Raven lounged in a chair . Listening to the conversation. Between the two women. She had been there for almost
twenty -minutes and couldn't help but want to strangle the little bitch. How dare she touch Barbara. Stifling a growl she began to pace.
"So tell me Helena. Your relationship with Barbara is moving a long quite well. Correct. How do you see it in the future?"
Helena seemed a bit uneasy honestly she hadn't even thought that far.
What would this be like in a few years was she going to move back into the clocktower. Where she and Barbara going to have children would they pass on the legacy to Dinah.
"I never thought about it."
"Well don't you think you should?"
"I..."
"Time Helena. Time is very short and life is very precious. One most be able to understand the two and separate the difference."
"Time Life collection." Helena couldn't help but smile. This was not lost on Harleen but was a major disappointment in her hypnosis session. Trying again she spoke. "Yes. That is correct. Your time on this planet is almost up and Barbara's is just beginning you don't want her to lose out on that time because you don't know where this will end up."
That did it Helena was frozen. She couldn't form a thought all she heard where Dr.Quinzel's words.
"Helena I want you to write a letter to Barbara." Handing her a pen and some paper. Helena just glared at the woman. "Take it. I want you to tell Barbara about the Time. Life." Helena began to write.
When she was finished Harleen looked over the letter. Smiling she walked into the back room.
"Ah there you are. I want you to take this over to Barbara's. I'm sure now our little Miss. Kyle will be all but ready to cooperate."
"Good now about Helena can I kill her?"
"All in good time. Now go. I have to contain Miss Kyle and see to it that no one has seen her."
"Very well." The Shadow slinked out of the room and headed towards the clocktower to deliver a message.
Clocktower-Night
The clocktower was eerily quite as Barbara entered. Dinah was at Gibson's and she was hoping to Finnish what she and Helena had started this morning. Heading toward the computer she missed the letter that was sitting on the keypad. Walking out of the room she went upstairs to freshen up.
Coming down some-time later Barbara headed back to her work station. Since getting the use of her legs back Barbara couldn't find a chair that was comfortable. Her "Chair" had grown on her sitting in it she was all to at home. Glancing down she saw the envelope "BARBARA" was printed in bold letters. It was Helena's hand writing. Opening it she began to read.
Barbara,
Feel's like you built a wall around me. You tried your best to ground me. Let me explain that I don't play by any other rules.
You've got know right to play with my emotions. I won't be nobody's fool. Feels like you made a mistake. You left a stain on every one of my good day's. You drove to me the fire and left me their to burn.
Every little thing I do is tragic all your life is magic. Beautiful girl bless your heart. I got a disease deep inside of me. Makes me feel uneasy. I can't breath. So keep your distance from me don't pay no attention to me. Leave me be while my world is coming down on me.
H.
"What the fuck is this shit." Barbara was livid she didn't even stop to think. Switching into Oracle mode she began calling Helena on the transceiver.
" Helena, Huntress respond." As the clocktower doors opened Barbara's breath was caught as she hoped it was Helena. Dinah walked in, a large smile gracing her features but was soon replaced by a frown as she took in Barbara's worried state.
"What?"
"It's Helena. She's gone." Handing Dinah the letter the young meta-human glanced over it. A feeling of uneasy rising.
"Did you."
"Yes no response. Something isn't right. I can't be sure what it is but I know it's something."
"Well she did say something about going to see Dr. Quinzel today. You don't think that that has anything to do with this? Do you?"
Dr.Quinael's Office- Night
Helena sat unmoving in the chair her eye's were wiggling every few seconds they would change from slits then back again. Harleen had been fascinated the first half-hour and was now just bored upon realizing that the young Miss. Kyle was a meta-human. Slicking into the room the shadow was now perched on the desk opposite Harleen.
Looking at Helena she was miffed that Quinzel wanted to keep her alive now. Now that she knew what she was.
"Why didn't you tell me she was different?"
"You didn't ask."
"I assumed that your hatred of Helena was just because she had Miss Gordon no pun intended."
"You do know what they say when you assume."
"Cute. but I guess no one can keep a secret better than a shadow. Just remember next time it's your head."
"All right so what do you have in store for our newest protégée?"
"Let's start here. Helena I want you to go home and bring all the information you can on one Batman. I want to know everything."
Helena looked up at her master and understood. Heading towards the window she opened it and jumped out. Boh Harllen and the shadow were up in a second to see if she was dead. Looking over the side they found her on the building's roof below them."
"The girl is good." Harleen said smiling. A knock on her brought her out of her musings. Walking over to it she was surprised to find Barbara Gordon standing there in all her glory a young girl standing next to her.
"Ah, Miss Gordon I presume won't you come in." Barbara and Dinah entered the office wearily as the door closed behind the trio took a seat.
Dr. Quinzel's office-Night
The slow dull ticking of the clock brought the three woman out of their musings. Since taking a seat no words had passed between them.
Harleen looked over Barbara as discreetly as possible and found why so many woman fancied her. Dinah caught the exchange and slinked a little in her chair. Barbara had noticed the roaming of the eye's but choose to ignore it.
"Not that I don't appreciate the silence. It's a welcome treat from the story's I hear day in and out. But I imagine this isn't a social visit." Harleen finished. Crossing her legs and sitting back.
"No. It isn't. Dr. Quinzel I was under the impression that Helena was supposed to visit you today. I understand the policy of Dr. Pateint confidentiality but I need to know if she was here today."
"Well Miss Gordon."
"Barbara please."
"Barbara you do know that Helena is under no obligation to meet with me now. So her not attending a session is her choice and no cause for alarm. At least on my end."
"Didn't you wonder why she didn't show up." Dinah blurted annoyed at Quinzel's non-caring attitude. Barbara shot her a glare causing Dinah to sit back in her chair a little more.
" Look I can't say I truly understand what this is about but if a patient doesn’t show up then it is out of my hands. It's not as if she's missing." Harleen knew what she was doing as she watched their faces change. Especially Barbara's it was as if someone had taken her "puddin" away. A familiar ache hit a little to close to home this time.
"She is missing." Barbara answered. A little sullenly for her own good.
"Then don't you think it should be the police that handle this and not me." Harleen answered a little miffed that there was no one in New Gotham able to stop her now. She truly enjoyed the challenge.
What point was there being bad if there was no self-righteous do-gooder trying to steal your thunder.
"That is a good-idea. Thank you Dr. Quinzel." Barbara stood to leave Dinah close behind her. Barbara shook her hand. As Harleen placed a hand on Dinah's back and walked them to the door. It was exactly what the two had hoped for. A stream of images began to surge through Dinah.
A white face man with green hair, Helena's mother, Batman, A twisted looking Dr. Quinzel in a jester suit, Dr. Megan and last but not least Helena siting in the chair writing a letter. Dinah slowly
came back into the realm of normal. As she was led by Barbara out of the office. Once they where in the car Dinah began to spill.
"Slow down what did you see?"
"I saw everything. Helen her mom, Batman Dr.Quinzel, Megan. She did it she did it." Dinah couldn't breath she was about ready to pop.
"Just breath." The two drove back to the clocktower in silence.
Clocktower-Night
As the two entered the clocktower they where unaware of Helena exiting from the open window. Dinah went up to her room. Barbara began to pace. Her mind racing with what she knew. Something had to be done everyone she knew was gone. It was just her and she had to
battle her demons in order to bring a sense of normalcy back to their lives with a second thought she picked up the phone. Unaware of the presence that lurked just out of her sight the shadow crept deeper through the tower watching the young red-head. Heading towards the bed room Barbara began to undress hopping into the shower. he let the hot jet's wash over her cleansing her body and focusing on her mission. She would have to become Batgirl.
Quinzel's office-Night
Harleen sat at her desk there was something strangely familiar about all of this. What she couldn't put her delude physche on it yet.
All in good time though. The window to her office was pushed open as Helena made a Huntress entrance a small smile perched on her lips as she sauntered over to the strange doc. Placing a CD on her desk.
Helena took a seat.
"So I gather your mission went well?"
"Yes it did the super-friends where just returning as I was leaving."
"Good then. Now is this everything I asked for."
"Yes and then some."
"You did well. Helena."
"Huntress."
"Very well Huntress. Fitting name. Greek mythological is one of my favorites. well Huntress I say this is cause for a celebration."
"I wouldn't raise those glasses just yet." Materializing in human form Dr. Megan stood looking at Helena.
"What is it now?" Harleen asked obviously quite annoyed.
"Our little friend here forgot to mention that. Barbara Gordon. a.k.a. Oracle. is also formerly known as Batgirl." Megan was sure this would be the end for the little hunter.
"I guess that would explain why that hair and those eye's looked so familiar. Good then. Now we really have cause for a celebration. To the destruction of New Gotham and bringing down of the Bat's."
