The X Files put on Peter Pan 5/8 by Cosmikgirlie Chapter 5 ** Mulder sighed and twiddled his thumbs. The two lunatics had been fighting for half an hour now. He decided to just sneak off and leave them to it. So he wandered outside to get a coffee. As Mulder breathed in the cold air, he noticed something glistening on the ground. He kneeled over and picked it up. It was a necklace: Scully's necklace!! Mulder stared at it, confused. Scully never took off her necklace, so why was it lying on the ground? He looked around him. Nothing. Where the **** was Scully?? "Why do you want me? What have I done to you?" pleaded Scully. The man just walked round her not saying a word. He turned towards her. "My dearest Scully, I have you here now, not for you..I don't want you." Scully stared at him, baffled. "Then..let me go!" "'Fraid I can't do that. I need you. Don't worry Scully, I didn't expect you to understand. Just make yourself comfortable." Scully stared at the cuffs around her hands. "I don't think that's possible..." she murmured. "Frohike, Langly, Byers! You've got to help me!" Mulder burst into the changing room. "Sorry Mulder," began Byers, "We're busy making our latest invention, seeing as the M.F.E.O was such a disaster. This, this will be much better!" Mulder paced the room. "Look, this is more important than some stupid machine. I think Scully's in trouble." Frohike loooked up. "What do you mean?" "Well, I found her necklace, the one that she NEVER takes off, and it was just lying on the ground." Langly sighed. "Oh Mulder, You're far too protective of her. She probably dropped it whilst having a bit of a romp in the grass with someone!" he grinned. Mulder frowned. "Somehow I don't think so." "Listen," said Byers. "Just look at our new invention. It will only take a second and then we can have a look around for Agent Scully." Mulder sighed. "What is it?" he asked irritably. "Well, it's the greatest thing ever! It's the....L.C machine!" said Byers. "The what?" "The Last Call machine! It shows you the last call on the phone: you can listen to the whole of the last conversation you had on your phone! Brilliant for break-ups, quick information and many more!" said an excited Langly. "Give us your phone and we'll try it out!" said Frohike, making a grab for Mulder's cell phone. Mulder quickly snatched it away. "Oh no! You're not looking in there! Try.....that phone!" He pointed at the theatre phone on the desk in the corner. "O.K!" squealed Byers as he made a grab for the phone and linked it up to the wires of the L.C. It whizzed and whirred and suddenly...it beeped. "It's ready!" whispered Langly as all four of them leaned closer to the phone. He turned up the volume and listened. Suddenly Scully's voice came up. "Look you.." Mulder stared at the machine. What was Scully doing using the theatre phone and why was she answering a call like that? But there was more. "Don't you dare hang up on me agin or I will kill you!" shouted a deep, low voice. The Lone Gunmen' eyes widened and Mulder looked seriously concerned. "What on earth?!?" he frowned. "Sssh!" said the Lone Gunmen in unison. "There's more!" "Please just go away!" said a sobbing Scully. Mulder stared horrified. This was happening, right under his nose! Scully was in deep trouble..with a manic! "Fine, Dana. I will do as you ask. But only when I get your one true love." came the low voice again. Mulder screwed up his eyes in anger. How dare he? Scully was so important to him. Why was he torturing her? "My what? What are you talking about?" said Scully. Then there was a beep as the tone went dead. Mulder and the Lone Gunmen were sitting, staring at the machine in disbelief. Who on earth was that? And why was he threatening Scully? Mulder jumped up. "Come on, you three! We've got some Scully - saving to do!" "Right on it!" saluted the Lone Gunmen. ** Mulder stood all ready to save his precious Scully, but suddenly thought: How am I gonna do that? He looked at the Lone Gunmen for advice. They smiled. "Don't worry Mulder, our machine is the greatest around! If we work on it, I think we can track the call." said Byers, starting to fiddle with the back of the machine. Suddenly Skinner barged in, followed by Krycek and Marita. "What's going on in here?" he said, severely. "Having a mothers' meeting are we?" Mulder scratched his head. "Skinner, Scully's in trouble. We have to help her. Any chance we could skip rehearsals today?" he said sarcastically. Skinner thought for a moment. "Oh alright, seeing as it's Scully." So Mulder told them all about it. Krycek sighed, stubbornly but agreed to help and Marita, being the only girl there, a scary prospect, also agreed. Soon the Lone Gunmen had fixed the machine and they tracked down the call to the exact house. Krycek and Marita stared in amazement at their machine, but Mulder and Skinner were used to their antics! They all piled into Mulder's car and set off in search for Scully. "You see," said the stalker, as he circled Scully in an undermining way, "I've planned this out very carefully. I bet you think that I'm mad for taking you here in broad daylight, when anyone could have seen?" "No.." said Scully, in terror. "But, that was all part of my plan. You know, you surprise me Scully. I would have thought you would have worked out what you are doing here by now. From what I know, you are normally quite an intelligent person." Scully frowned and said quietly. "How DO you know so much about me?" The stalker smiled. "It's easy, Scully. Don't you realise that when you become an F.B.I agent, virtually all your personal details become public knowledge?" Scully wriggled in her ropes. "That's not true!" she said. "The only way you could have found out about me is if you had come to the bureau and someone had SHOWN you the information...." she trailed off. "Why, my dear Scully! You seem to have hit the nail on the head! For that is exactly what I did! That Agent Skinner was a lot of help...." Scully stared at him in horror. "I don't believe it! It's not true! Why on earth would Skinner want to sell me out to a psychopath?!" she shouted. The stalker turned to look at her with angry eyes. "I am not a psycho," he whispered. "I am just someone out for revenge." "Revenge on whom?" asked Scully. The stalker walked up close to her and fixed his eyes on hers. "Mulder." he breathed. Scully gasped in shock. Her terrified eyes searched the room for escape. There was none. Her eyes started to fill up with tears as she realised what was happening. She was merely the bait for Mulder to find. She wan't in any real danger. But Mulder was. ** The Lone Gunmen sat squished in the back fiddling with the M.F.E.O. "Hey!" shouted Byers. There's something missing from the back of this!!" "Let me see!" shouted Langly, squirming to reach the machine. But Frohike snatched it away from both of them and stared into the back. "Hey! He's right you know!" "All of you shuddup!" called Mulder from the front, as he drove at 100 miles per hour along a long straight road. "We have more important things to worry about!" Krycek and Marita were stuffed into the boot of the car: {it was an estate), and they sat, in silence staring in front of them. Suddenly Marita spoke up. "Listen, Alex, I think we'd better talk about the matter in hand." Krycek craned his neck round to look at her. "What matter?" "Our plan...to get rich and get rid of the cancer man." "Oh." said Krycek as he stared at the floor. "Listen, I think that maybe, that isn't such a good idea any more. I mean, if we get caught..." Marita stared at him. "What?! You were the one who persuaded ME to do it! And now you're backing out?!?" "What's this about backing out?" called a suspicious Skinner from the front passenger seat. "Nothing!" replied Krycek and Marita in unison. "Mulder!" called Langly. "I think I'm going to be sick!" Mulder rolled his eyes. "For goodness sake! We're on a dead straight road. There's no-where to pull up, and anyway we don't have time!" "Ermm..Mulder?" said Byers. "I think it's a bit too late." He pointed to a very pale looking Langly, who was holding his head between his knees. Mulder soon smelt the sickening stench. "IRRGH! YUCK!" murmured everyone. Krycek and Marita were busy straining round in their seats to see a piece of the action; Byers was leaning as far away as possible from the victim; Skinner was looking queasy himself and Frohike was testing the sick substance with a syringe for DNA. "Why I even thought of bringing them is beyond me!" sighed Mulder. "Look, what I don't understand is WHY? Why would you want to hurt Mulder?" interrogated Scully. The stalker sighed. "Listen, Scully, I'm tired of all your questions and quite frankly I have better things to do with my time." As he turned to leave, he realised there was no one to guard Scully. He paused and sighed again. "Maybe it would have been just easier to kidnap Mulder himself!" he muttered to himself. Scully smiled, realising her authority over him. "Look, I want answers and I want them now." she demanded. "Fine, fine! Mulder and I, we were at the same college. We used to do everything together: best pals, thats what we were!" he smiled and then his face turned grim. "But it seems like Mulder wanted to share a bit more with me than I was prepared to." Scully looked confused. "What do you mean?" "He betrayed me. I was going out with this girl, Sindy, her name was. I loved her, so so much. And then I saw her with him...it was all behind my back...the swine!" he screwed up his face in anger. "Listen," reasoned Scully. "I know Mulder. And he wouldn't do anything like that. Not intentionally. And anyway, why are you punishing him for it now?" "Because he never even said sorry! I saw him around..he just ignored me...like we had never known each other...it was on my anniversary, when I found them...I felt like my heart had been broken in two. And that is why I am going to get Fox Mulder. Whatever it takes, I will get my revenge." Scully bit her lip. What had Mulder got himself into? ** Mulder's car screeched to a halt outside a stingy apartment down a dark alleyway. Everyone thankfully burst out of the car, pleased to get rid of the awful smell, and Krycek and Marita were pleased to get away from the awkward silence which had been haunting them all of the way. Mulder carefully looked around, beckoned everyone to stay behind him and took out his gun. He then tiptoed up to the rusty old door and slowly pushed at it. It was open and so he walked in, followed by Byers, Frohike, Marita, Langly, Skinner and finally Krycek. It was dark in the small apartment and Mulder wondered where Scully was. Perhaps they had got it wrong and the Lone Gunmen had tracked the wrong place. But suddenly they heard a sound of footsteps coming from upstairs. Everyone jumped and Langly, Frohike and Byers hid timidly behind Krycek. Mulder pointed his gun towards the noise and slowly followed it. "Mulder! Do you think this is a good idea?" whispered Skinner, looking like he had just seen another pink dress that he had to wear in the performance. "Course it is! When have you known me to be wrong?" answered Mulder and as he heard voices in the next room, he pushed open the door in force to find Scully and the stalker. Mulder gasped. "Daniel? Is that you?" he whispered. Daniel turned round and glared at Mulder. "Hello Fox. I was expecting you." Scully immediately tried to make exasperated signals to Mulder telling him that it was a trap, but Mulder, being Mulder, didn't quite catch her drift. "What are you doing with Scully? Let her go!" he said defiantly. Daniel smiled. "Don't like the taste of your own medicine do you, Mulder?" Mulder looked confused for a second, then light dawned on him. "Oh for goodness sake, you're not still brooding over Sindy are you? How many times have I got to tell you, I did nothing wrong!" Daniel grunted. "Huh! You had an affair with her on MY anniversary!" "Yes! THREE YEARS AFTER YOU HAD BROKEN UP WITH HER!!" shouted Mulder. Now it was Scully's turn to gasp. "What?" she asked. "Yes, that's right!" said Mulder. " We weren't even proper friends any more, and you and her hadn't spoken in years...and yet you still tell people I took her away from you!" Daniel narrowed his eyes. "I am still getting my revenge on you, Fox Mulder!" ** "Sorry could someone fill us in please?" asked a confused Krycek, walking in. Mulder turned round. "We were just leaving. Come on Scully!" Daniel glared at him. "Ermm...I don't think so. She is my hostage remember, and one wrong move from *back-stabber* and she gets it." Scully started to shake. Mulder moved closer to Daniel. "Listen, you, we outnumber you by 7 to 1. I wouldn't try anything if I was you." Daniel smiled. "Always the logical one weren't you Fox? Well, I happen to have some back-up." He clicked his fingers and a troop of large looking men proceeded out of the door behind him. Mulder looked concerned and Marita, Skinner and the Lone Gunmen also came in. Daniel peered at them. Suddenly he froze and looked shocked. "Oh....my...." he stammered. "Sindy? Is that you?!" He was staring directly at Marita. Marita frowned and looked at him curiously. "Excuse me?" "No, no no! That's not Sindy! Although she does look surprisingly like her!" commented Mulder. Daniel walked up, in a gaze, until he was close to Marita. He raised his hand and gently brushed her cheek. "Sindy." he breathed. Krycek glared at him, about to pounce, while the Lone Gunmen held him back. "Listen. You've got this all wrong. I'm no Sindy! For a start who'd want a name like that! And secondly can you get off me..you're kinda giving me the creeps!" said Marita. But Daniel didn't seem to be listening to a word she said. His face turned angry. "Sindy, how could you betray me...with him of all people. You're going to pay for this along with Fox." He grabbed her violently by the arm and dragged her over to the wall next to Scully. As he bound her, the *helpers* held back Krycek and Skinner and anyone else trying to stop Daniel. "Get off her!" shouted Krycek. Marita looked scared. Her eyes were wide and tearful. Then Daniel pounced at Mulder, and tied him to a pole in the middle of the room. Mulder put up a fight, but couldn't stop Daniel and his helpers. "Right. Now get rid of those impostors!" commanded Daniel, pointing to Skinner, Krycek and the Lone Gunmen. They all remained, helpless of what to do, when suddenly the helpers picked them up and threw them outside, locking the doors. "But sir, won't they just try to come back in, to help their friends?" asked one of the helpers. Daniel looked up and smiled a crooked smile. "That's the fun of it! If they do, they will be killed. Is that clear? Now, let's see what I can do with my toys!" he said, grinning and rubbing his hands as he stared at the terrified faces of Scully, Marita and Mulder. ** There was a cold silence. The stalker paraded round his victims with an evil smile. "Hmmm.." he said. "I think that I will leave it a little longer...to make it more exciting. So I am going to have my dinner now! See you later, don't go anywhere!" he laughed. "Not like you can with those ropes and my trusty helpers! Ta-ta!" And with that he skipped out of the room, humming 'Old McDonald had a farm'. Scully, Mulder and Marita looked at each other. "He really is barmy isn't he?" exclaimed Marita. "Yeah, tell me..why did you become friends with that loser again?" said Scully. Mulder sighed. "Well, I didn't know then..that he would turn into such a nutcase! Anyway, I lost touch with him when he started turning weird." "Weird?!" asked Marita. "Yeah, he used to talk to himself...call me up at 3 a.m to tell me my aunt had just died when she was alive and well.. that sort of thing.." Scully stared at him. "That's horrible." "Anyway!" started Mulder. "What are we going to do? I don't fancy the idea of becoming Daniel's lunch." Marita scratched her head across the wall. "Hmm..well don't forget the others. Maybe they'll save us!" she said with a hopeful grin. "What, Skinner and Krycek, who can't even be in the same room together, and three men who hid behind Skinner as soon as I got out my gun! Maybe pigs will fly!" sneered Mulder. "Aww..don't be too hard on them Mulder, after all we can trust them." assured Scully. "Well, some of them anyway." grunted Mulder. "Listen, what are we gonna do?" shouted Byers. "About what?" said Langly. "Arrrgh! I give up!" he replied and sat down on the side of the stage. Skinner was quietly pacing and Krycek was calling the police. "Yes! I'm telling you, he's got them all tied up in a shack down town!" exclaimed Krycek. "Oh yeah!" sneered the police officer. "Listen, son. We had call after call today, informing us of the exact same details. We went to the first one, and it was a prank. You really expect us to believe you now, the dozenth time you guys have called us?" "What? What are you talking about? I'm telling the truth! He's got them all as hostages and he's probably gonna kill them!!" "Look son. It's really not amusing any more. We could arrest you and your gang for wasting police time. Now I will not tell you again. LEAVE IT. And don't even think about calling us again or you'll have me to answer to." "But you don't understand! I'm telling the truth!!" "JUST LEAVE IT. Go and find something else to do with your free time and stop bothering us. Oh and by the way, a little pointer: you might want to try changing the details of your report each time; might make it a little less boring for us anyway. Goodnight." "NO! IT'S TRUE!!" But it was no use. He was shouting into a dead line. "ARRRRRRGH!" shouted Krycek as he slammed the phone back down and trudged back to the stage. Skinner looked up. "What did they say? Are they coming?!" Krycek looked solemn. "No, they completely cut me off!" "What?" shouted everyone. "Yeah! They acted completely weird! They said they had had loads of calls today reporting the exact same thing as I did! Don't you think that's weird?" Skinner paused, thinking. "Now, come to think of it, I remember something from when we went into the flat. Daniel was holding his mobile phone, and so were some of the helpers!" "Yeah? And what does that prove, apart from that they are wealthy buggers?" "Don't you see? THEY made all of the calls! A different person each time, to make it look like a gang of terrorists, I guess." Krycek stared at him "Wow..he's a sly one, that Daniel. What are we gonna do? If the police aren't on our side, then it's just us!" "Yup and we'll have to do it right!" said Skinner slowly. ** Scully, Mulder and Marita sat on their own in the dark room. Scully sighed with exhaustion. Mulder slowly turned his head. "Scully? You O.K?" he croaked. Scully gently nodded her head. They were all so hungry now; they wished for their throats to be quenched with a drop of heavenly water. "We must talk." whispered Marita. "To take our minds off... everything." "Alright," said Scully. "What is the deal with you and men, Marita?" Marita went silent. "Please," Scully went on, "tell me. I'm sure all women want to know your secret. How do you get three men to fall in love with you?" Marita looked up. "What?" she asked. "Three?!?" "Right, all we need is a plan." said Krycek getting up and walking over to the other four. Langly sighed. "We've been thinking for the last 10 hours! What do you want us to do?" "Well think harder!" shouted Skinner. "We HAVE to save M..I mean the gang." Byers raised an eyebrow. "I think there may be an alternative reason for your determination!" Skinner got up. "Well if there is or there isn't, it doesn't matter. We have to get them out. And I think I know how." "How?" asked everyone. "Look, I was never in love with her! Where did you get that one from?" yelled Mulder. "Maybe from the fact that you were playing a very serious game of tonsil hockey with her not very long ago!" shouted Scully. "Oh, for goodness sake! You’re not still going on about that are you?" said Mulder with annoyance. "LOOK YOU TWO!! When you have quite finished!!" screeched Marita. "For once, that meant nothing, Scully. It was just some scam we...I.. thought up. End of story. Skinner and Krycek on the other hand, are another matter." Suddenly Daniel burst in, singing: "Celebrate good times, COME ON!! Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-da-da-da!" "God help us!" breathed Mulder. "All we have to do is use the contraption to lower me into the apartment and hey presto!" squealed Skinner. "It's gonna have to be pretty strong to carry YOU." muttered Krycek. "Pardon Krycek?" "Oh, I was just asking why you are going in? Why not me?" "And why should it be you, Krycek?" asked Skinner, in a condescending way. "Because...I'm younger. And fitter. And I can get around better than you, and I have experience with a gun, I'm stronger. And well, how should I put it..I don't eat as many pies as you, Skinner me man.." Skinner took in a deep breath. "Well maybe, I'm a little more mature than the likes of you and will be able to make the right decisions. I am of course more experienced in these matters. Plus I know the hostages better. They are more close to me." "Huh! Please!" sneered Krycek. "If you were let loose in there you wouldn't last one minute! Oh and it would be very hazardous...when your dress trips you up!" Skinner ran forward, staring at Krycek with fiery eyes and both of them stood facing each other, like dragons in battle. "Alright, alright!" said Byers, putting his hands round both men, "You will both get a chance to save Marita, but first...we must get to building this so-called contraption." ** Daniel sat on an old, rickety chair, staring at Mulder. Mulder looked up. "Look, what are you gonna do with us Daniel? Just keep us here? You might as well just let us go!" said Mulder, desperate. Daniel stirred slightly. "Oh, Fox, if only you knew what goes through my mind, what I have felt, you really hurt me. You too, Sindy." he said turning his gaze to Marita. Marita gave him a dirty look and reverted her gaze to the floor. Daniel got up and moved closer to her. "Sindy, I still love you...if we could just have one more night together...." "Oh please!" sneered Mulder without thinking. "You're a virgin!" Daniel threw an angry gaze at him and squeezed his hands around Mulder's neck. "No!" screamed Scully. "Get off him!" But Daniel wouldn't let go. He watched Mulder's face turn red, with delight. "I....can't...breathe!" choked Mulder. Suddenly something burst through the window, with a large bang, shattering glass over everyone. "Step away from him!" roared an authoritative voice. Daniel let go of Mulder and stared up at Skinner as he stood, a giant over everyone on what looked like a massive crane. To the side stood Byers, Langly and Frohike, clutching a box with some controls on it. Daniel stared to laugh, a slightly nervous one. "This is all you have come up with!? How pathetic are you?" Skinner eyes narrowed with disgust. "We're going to tear down this place if you don't let our friends go!" "Yeah!" shouted the Lone Gunmen in unison. Daniel stood up. "Well we outnumber you! Come!" he called. On command, seven tall helpers marched out of nowhere. "Sir!" they saluted. Scully leant towards Mulder, frightened. The tall men started to descend on the Lone Gunmen. "Look out!" shouted Skinner as he fought with the pedals of the crane. But it was no good. The Lone Gunmen had the controls. "Throw the remote up to Skinner!" screamed Marita, still tied to the wall. The first man had got to Frohike and was trying to punch him, but Byers kicked him where it hurt. Suddenly one of them came up behind Langly, who was holding the controls, and kicked him in the back. Langly doubled over, throwing the controls up into the air. Frohike climbed on the man's back while Byers threw his hands up in the air, ready to catch the controls. But Daniel jumped up, before him and caught them, safely in his hands. He grinned, evilly and started to push them, haphazardly trying to ruin the machine. The crane proceeded to swerve from side to side, crashing into the walls of the room. Skinner held onto the front handle for his life. The crane was pushed forward and back, smoke billowing out of the engine. "Frohike! Get the controls off him! He's gonna kill us all!!" screamed Scully. Frohike looked up and ran up to Daniel, throwing himself on him. A couple of helpers ran after him, but Langly and Byers stopped them. Frohike managed to push Daniel to the ground and the controls slid across the floor towards Mulder. Mulder quickly strained his arm to reach them, but couldn't. He grabbed and pulled at the ropes that had him tied to the wall, but they wouldn't budge. However, Marita, with small hands managed to squeeze out and run over to the controls, picking them up and pressing forward. The crane whooshed towards Daniel. Just as it was about to loom upon him, the engine started to whizz and whir and finally the crane came to a halt. Marita screamed out in desperation as Daniel got up and scurried over to her. Scully stared at the engine. A large bar of metal had been wedged into the back, with smoke and fire raging out with it. A grinning helper stood beside it. "Please someone help us!!!" screamed Scully in desperation. Suddenly there was a massive BANG!! Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked up in shock. Someone stood in the doorway, sitting on a large motorbike. "Krycek!" shouted Marita, happily. He sat, smiling, holding a small object in his hands. "Not too late am I?" he asked. Daniel looked at his helpers. "Kill him!" But as the men ran towards Krycek, he quickly lifted up the object, pointed it at them and pressed a button. A massive, bright, red light filled the room. Automatically Mulder whispered "Close your eyes!!" to Scully and Marita. But Marita was out of earshot. Suddenly all the helpers, blinded by the light, started to cry out in pain, covering their eyes and falling to the ground. "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!" screamed Daniel as he hit the ground and fell unconcious. The lone Gunmen, Skinner, Mulder and Scully all had their eyes tightly shut, and were hiding under some rubble. A great silence filled the room, as all the helpers fell unconscious. Krycek switched off the red light and jumped off his bike, running over to the hostages. "Are you all O.K?" he asked. Mulder and Scully opened their eyes as Krycek untied them. He looked over at Marita. "Marita!!" he shouted, shaking her unconscious body. "CHRIST! Didn't she close her eyes?!" he shouted at Mulder. Mulder sat pondering. "I told her to...but I guess she didn't hear me." "Come on! We have to get out of here and get her to a hospital!!" said Krycek as he lifted the limp Marita into his arms. As the Lone Gunmen and Skinner joined them, Scully asked: "What happens if she doesn't get treatment?" Krycek looked at her solemnly. "She'll die." ****************************
