We have learned to our greatest regret and sorrow that Victoria Mettler, known to us fondly as Trilly, took her life by her own hands on March 31, 2000.

This is for her, and for all of us who love her dearly, because the last thing we talked about was my poem Dreamscape.

To Trilly

from Winds-of-Dawn

May the Wolf
walk always besides you, beloved sister,
and The Panther
lie forever by your side.

May the Jungle
shelter you in its verdant folds,
and The Stream
murmur its ageless song by your bed.

Let not your Light
be diminished by our grief,
nor let this Night
steal from us your delight.

Death
may in the end claim all,
but your Life
remains with us always.

May the Wolf
remind us always of you, our beloved friend,
and The Panther
guard forever our sorrow.

May you, our beloved sister,
sleep undisturbed in your rest,
and The Jungle
shield us all in your dreams.

April 6, 2000

Today, dear sister,
You leave us on your last journey,
With the Panther and the Wolf
To run before you, clearing the way.

O, depart not, dearest friend!
It is too soon, too soon,
We hardly had time to know you
Bright light, gentle spirit, calm breeze.

Take our love, our longing, our grief,
Come back to us, o, beloved sister!
Hasten not this last journey.
Will not the Panther and the Wolf block the way?

Covered with our flowers, our tears, our words,
Your hearse departs, carrying away
The mortal vessel that held your undying spirit,
The lingering trace of your time on this earth.

Leaving us, finally, with memories,
Sweet and bitter, tender and fierce.
The mountains may crumble and the seas run dry,
Yet we shall hold you in our hearts, dear sister.

May the Panther and the Wolf run swift and sure
The wind at your back, the stars light the way.
Until we meet again, dearest sister,
May the Jungle shield us all in your dreams.
