I had once lived in Berea,Ohio with my family
And where I had allowed myself to be
Falling in love with Ron,a handsome hunk
Who had been standing next to a tree trunk
before he had looked and smiled at me.
I also had a best friend in the same school
Named Beth,who had thought that I was cool
And we had shared everything together.
As a mater of fact,we had promissed each other
Not to forget our good times in Berea High School
After we had graduated and gone to do our own thing.
But that was before the reunion,where Ron was blindfolding
Himself and trying to guess the girl's name
By kissing them on the lips,only to have me--much to my shame
Find out that I was a fool to believe his lying
Lips because Beth had kissed Ron and he had
Said,"It's...Rita!",which had made me become so sad
And humiliated and asked,"H...How could Ron mistake
Beth's lips for mine?",before she had made herself rake
Her fingernails across his face and say,"I'm so mad
At you right now!The girl standing behind me
Is Rita,you stupid jerk!Take that thing off and see!"
And when he had finally removed the blindfold and
Noticed that there was a look that was not so grand
In my eyes,Ron had said,"Sorry,Rita.Please forgive me.
It's just that when I had kissed Beth's lips,I had let myself taste
The same lip balm that you had once put on within due haste
While we were back in high school.So,I had thought that
It was you instead of Beth.Could someone hand me my hat?
I better get out of here before I let myself waste
A perfectly good reunion party any futher."
But that before Beth had dragged him back to her
Best friend and said,"No,Ron.I'm sorry for that
Scratch across the face.It's just that
I had asked Rita to let me bum some of her
Lip balm off of her.What do you say,Ron?
Would you please stay and let this good time party go on?"
And we had looked and smiled at each other,
We had kissed just in time for Beth to shout at the top of her
Lips,"YAY!THE PARTY'S STILL ON!"
