Ezra sighed as he watched the fireworks lighting up the evening sky. A hand dangling a champagne glass dropped before him. Ezra took the drink and sipped it casually.
Coco sat down beside him. "There were only two pieces of Piper's apple pie left, so I grabbed you one too."
"Thank you."
Coco peered closer. "What's wrong, Ez? We're supposed to be celebrating our independence, not pouting."
"Ah am."
"You miss your family."
Ezra nodded.
"But they wouldn't understand your lifestyle."
Ezra sighed. "Indeed. How did you know?"
"I've heard too many men make the same declaration." He squeezed his friend's hand. "It'll be okay."
