Chris stared at the ocean under the night sky, the weight of the world heavy upon his shoulders. He had nearly lost one today.
Larabee's hands curled around the ship's railing as he wondered how Salem had managed to bear the responsibility of caring for the thousands who had loyally followed him. He prayed nightly that he wouldn't make a mistake and lose a friend. How had Salem lived with all that had happened to them?
He looked up as a soft voice drawled behind him, "You're not alone. We're all in this together."
Chris nodded as Vin took his side.
