Work Text:
The Bodies Left Behind
by Dayrunner
Angel knew that the last thing he saw in Spike’s expressive blue eyes would haunt him forever.
Shock, pain, realization… but most of all… love.
He dropped his bloody sword and slumped to the wet asphalt in the alley behind Wolfram and Hart, rain hiding the tears that fell freely.
How would he live without his only childe?
The deluge stopped at the crack of dawn, the sun bearing witness to the carnage below.
As its rays slithered toward Angel, he stood, Spike’s ashes still clinging to him.
“Goodbye Spike,” Angel whispered, then raised his face to greet the sun.
